I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!
I'm 30, I've been married since I was 21. I have 2 girls, age 6 and 19 months. I have a medical assistant certification, an associates from my prerequisites and a bachelors in science in psychology. I am at the point where I am applying to nursing schools now for a 2nd degree, it has always been part of my academic plan. I have applied to a few schools and will be applying to a few more. I have a main one I really want to go to so just waiting to hear back from them. I love anything that has to do with the brain. I've been working with adults and children who have psychiatric and neurological disorders in home health and most recently a clinic. It's can be tough but interesting, and fulfilling at the same time. My goal is to become a nurse and combined my degrees in a way. So fingers crossed and lots of prayers, I'll find out if I get into the program I really want to be in with in a little over a month hopefully.
39, relocated to Broward County from Tampa last year and am newly married with a soon to be 17 year old and a baby due in June (I know crazy right) I am graduating this May with an AA and am in the process of applying for the nursing program for Aug '14. I have completed all of my pre-reqs and obtained a waiver for the HCP class due to my previous healthcare experience. I just need to retake the A&P portion of the Hesi. I am so nervous! Good luck to all of my fellow 30 something's out there!
Im so glad i found this post!! I am 35 and hoping to start an Accelerated BSN program in the fall. Its nice to know that there are so many people over 30 that are in the same boat! Im currently finishing up my pre req courses AND working full time in a hospital....it has definitely been rough. My biggest fear right now is getting loans for school!!!
Where's the 40+ club?:) I am 43, just got accepted into an accelerated BSN program after a year of prerequisites. New professional life, here I come.
42 about to turn 43 next week and finally starting the nursing classes next month! I can't wait! It has been a long journey but now I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel. Trying to show my kids that it is never too late but that I rather they do it now that they're young and don't have families yet.
I can tell you social work, while an honorable and rewarding field, pays horribly. I think nursing will allow me to do what I like and actually be able to LIVE rather than struggle to survive.
funny. ..ive noticed lots of sw here changing careers. I have my BSW and decided to skip the MSW and go for the RN as well. For all the same reasons.
I remember lots of older students in my BSW program and now I'm the older student :) I turn 40 next month just before classes start. The one good thing is I feel like I have been exposed to so much of the medical world with 3 kids, aging grandparents and just life in general!
42 years young here. I'm almost done with my pre-reqs and can't wait to start nursing school. I've often wondered if I was too old to pursue nursing, because in almost all of my classes thus far I've always been the one of the oldest if not the oldest in class, however, I've also been one of the smartest and I've found that a lot of the younger ones in class come to me for help. I wish I had applied myself like this when I was younger.
37, turning 38 in August and starting my last year of pre-reqs in August. Married, four kids 13, 11, 9, 5. I'll be taking all of my science courses, so I'm a little intimidated and hoping I'll do well. Of course I'm excited too, and can't wait until I can apply to nursing school. I'll be getting my ADN and then going for the RN-BSN. Best of luck to us all! ☺
I'm very sad. I didn't get into my first choice, I got waitlisted again (second try) I'm not getting any younger and I'm starting to wonder if is really worth it to keep trying. Very dissapointed. I haven't told my husband how sad I am though he knows how much I want this. What would you guys do in my shoes? Help!

31 here. *waiving* I'll be 32 when I graduate in December. My cohort has 29 students and at least a quarter of us are in the 30+ club.
