I'm almost 32 and just about finished my first quarter back. I will have 9 more pre reqs to take before I can apply for the program. I would love to chat with others and cheer each other on along the way. OH, and does anyone else think English 101 is kinda hard?! And why the hell does it have to be one of the 4 classes that count at my school? I'm going crazy!
Hey! @icaspeSorry for my very late reply. I've decided in the passed time that I really don't want the RT program and I'm putting all my focus into RN programs at both HCC and SPC. I am kind of beginning my prereqs. I've taken English Comp, Psych, and am currently enrolled in Sociology and MAT28. Next semester I have registered for MAT33, AP1, and Micro.
I'm deathly afraid of the upcoming prereqs beginning in spring because SPC requires Statistics but I know it's only preparation for nursing school.
How about you? This forum is so great with all the information I've found. Thanks, y'all!
Oh no prob! I'm in Stats now at HCC...have an A so far. Are you taking your actual classes at HCC? I could recommend some profs. I had all A's and 1 B in my prereqs.
I applied and got into the program at HCC for Spring '14. It was my first time applying. I love this forum too...you can find out so much information! :)
Hey all! Thanks for bumpin' this thread, smylee... it's a great one
I'm 31, married, 2 pre-teen stepkids....I've completed all pre-reqs with the exception of English 2, and I've already applied for the NP at a community college here in Nashville. Should hear something in just a few weeks! Good luck to all of the other 30-somethings out there!

No problem :) it's been awhile and sure there are some updates. I applied to a 2014 fall ADN program. Just waiting for my acceptance I have a long wait ahead of me... End of may to early June. Good luck! I pray that you receive your acceptance :)
I am 32, recently married, no kids (yet), and was just accepted to the Accelerated BSN program at Cal State FUllerton for fall 2014. I am excited/nervous about this whole process, especially in terms of when to have a family! I am just going to take it day by day once I start the program and see how the workload is I guess. I know being prego in nursing school is NOT a good idea, so my hope is to wait until after, or at least until I get close to graduation. So glad I found this thread and can talk to others in my age range!
I'm 31 and have been in the medical field off and on for over nine years. First, I wanted to be a nurse since I was six. I joined the Navy and became a Hospital Corpsman. In 2008 I wrapped up my enlistment and worked as an ER Tech, PCT, and an uncertified MA. I obtained a diploma in Medical Assisting in 11/2011 and past my RMA exam in 3/2012. Since then I've maintained my RMA and I am going back to school to START my pre reqs for BSN at Kennesaw State. I've been out of school for over ten years, but I'm going for it no matter how long it takes. Luckily I currently have a great part time gig in urgent care and I've recently applied to volunteer at a local hospital. Hats off to all my fellow 30,40, and perhaps 50+'s for not being discouraged and for making the sacrifices.

No no, definitely don't get pregnant in NS. NS is challenging enough! You are still young and have time :) it's very hard doing school with kids... Trust me, I have 3 and it is very challenging. Trying to juggle school and kids is very hard, both require your dedicated time. Congrats again on your acceptance and keep us posted on your progress :)
I'm 48, and have 3 more classes to go before I can apply for nursing school! I have worked as a Dialysis Technician for the past 20 years and it took this long to decide to go back to school. I started in 2011. I waited until my two kids got older because I'm a single mom I felt my place was with them while they were little. They are now 19 and 21 and also in college. Good luck to all!
