Class of 2015

Published

Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.

With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?

Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.

Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)

I also will be starting nursing school this Fall.

I am so excited I can barely focus on the classes I am currently attending. I.e... the reason why I am on AN right now :x3: But, I am so glad I decided to take them so I won't have an extra load next year.

Our orientation is this Friday though I am unable to attend so I am joining the waiting game as well. Not to worry, it won't be long before we are wishing for the days when we had it so easy. Haha

Yay for the class of 2015!!

I will start my ADN program in the fall :)

We have had orientation and it went really well, overwhelming, but well! I have my uniforms and some of the vaccinations already. I actually have my physical today, where I will get the rest of the titers I need. I am so excited to start my journey to becoming an RN!

I already had my physical and titers done. I just have to get one more PPD in June, then I'm done with that (have to have the 2 step PPD here). I'm wondering since I had my physical in October if my employment physical from the same hospital we are going to have clinicals will count for another physical to be more updated? That is getting done June 6th at 10:30am.

Hi everyone! I'll be starting the ADN program in August!! Can't wait!!! I'm in the process of getting immunizations, still waiting for my titer results. I can't believe how expensive these vaccines are:eek: we had our first orientation on May 2 and we'll have our second one in August. I still have to do the background check and physical. We have so many books to buy!! I was overwhelmed when I saw the list!! I'm going to order my scrubs this week:) they're royal blue and I can't believe I get to finally wear them!! :D I have 3 children ages 14, 11, 8 and a very supportive husband!!

Hey there, classmate :D My son is 14 and I have a step-daughter who is 10. We've got kids close in age.

I haven't done the background check & the fingerprinting yet. I have to go to the Health Dept. to get my vaccine records straightened out since the military lost most of my records after Hurricane Andrew. According to the Health Dept., I have no records after 1971, which is complete BS. My mom sent me all the vaccine cards she had from when I was a kid. Hoping I don't have to get any more shots! My last Hep B vaccine is due in 2 weeks. Still need to get a titer for varicella, since I've had both chicken pox & the shingles.

My scrubs arrived on Saturday! I love seeing them hanging up, just waiting for August!!!

Hey, we're using the same Jarvis' Physical Examination and Health Assessment book. :)

Hopefully you have a sturdy bookshelf!

Hehehe, too funny! I went to put them on the shelf on my desk and was worried it was too heavy. Now they're just sitting there, stacked up on top of the desk. I need reinforcements! :)

That's cool we're using the same books. We can have a virtual study session!

Haha, I cringed when my Fundamentals book came in! We're also using Jarvis' books, as well as the APA Manual. The RN Notes isn't required, but I'm looking at picking one up for clinical use.

Hi all! I am hoping to be part of the class of 2015! I won't find out if I have been accepted to my local ADN program until late June or early July. It's going to be nerve racking over the next several weeks, I am trying to remain positive but I have my moments! If I get accepted then I would have a pre-nursing and dosage calculations class start mid October and then officially start nursing school January 2014. My program goes from Jan. to Dec. so if all goes well then I would finish the ADN program in Dec. of 2015.

Good luck to all!!

Yes! Are you? If so, send me a PM :D

YES! I just signed up to this website yesterday and it won't let me PM anyone (not yet anyway). Did you take any classes in the fall/spring? I took micro, micro lab and pharmacology. For spring semester, I took medical terminology!

I think you have to have 15 posts before you can send a PM. Yeah, I finished all the co-reqs as well, so all I have left are the nursing courses. I'm taking Medical Terminology over the summer so I can comp out of it in the Fall

Can't wait to find out when our next orientation session is!
