Young, Thin, and Cute New Hires
That's so true. Unfortunately, you're not answering the PG survey when you are really sick and don't care. It's not until you're home and think back to what you actually remember about your stay, when you were feeling a bit better but still couldn't have the meal you wanted when you wanted it.

University of Washington's BSN program 2014
IN summer classes. Finals next week, hence the reason I am wasting time on this site I suppose. It's been really great actually. I am SOSOSOOOSOOO glad I took these classes now. I cannot imagine having to take this one class on top of the other 4 next quarter- assessment is pretty easy though. I am looking forward to next quarter - sort of haha. I am scared but I think it will be ok. Getting all the clinicals stuff filled out for the site has been a lot of work but it'll be worth it. I hope to see you Just_keep_swimming, and don't worry about having not gotten in to the university, if you get off the waiting list they will get you in. UW is rather picky about getting in w/out being accepted to a program when you're around junior status.

Good Planner
If you prefer a handheld paper calendar (I.e... not an online one) I seriously recommend the "UNCALENDAR". You fill in all the dates etc and it has tons of extras, like note spaces etc. You can get it in 2 sizes or just buy the pages to put in your own binder. Just Google uncalendar.

My Microbiology Teacher told me I can't become a Nurse
3 Years ago I was told by the nursing adviser (for a community college) that I had "no hope" of getting into nursing school. She looked at my grades in A&P from 7 years ago (I was re-taking them since they "expired" and I was getting good grades) and put my paperwork down without looking at anything else and said that the grade was too low in anatomy. Then she called, what I assume was, a coworker in to the room and asked about their lunch!!!! right in front of me as though I wasn't even there. I was so mad, I had scheduled a half-hour meeting with her and I had been in there only maybe 5 minutes. I asked her... "aren't the grades averaged out and that is what decides if you get in? It's not just one poor grade" (This fact was true, and my average was way above what was needed. And it's not that the class counted anyway because it was too old for this program). She said "Oh, I don't know, you'll have to ask the secretary out front about that" Oh My Gosh SERIOUSLY????????? YOU DON'T KNOW YOUR OWN JOB?!?!! I was so dejected and downright angry. I swore off that school (it is where I earned my AAS-DTA and did most of my pre-reqs), their nursing program has been viewed by other schools as acting kind of "elite" when they really have no better scores/graduates than any other CommColl RN program around. I applied at 5 other schools and got in to 3 of them one of which was university. So whatever, dont listen to some old bitty about what you can/cannot do, they don't know you based off a couple encounters.

Kristen and Tracy I also know exactly how you feel. I was rejected from 4 other schools, including my UW rejection last year. It sucks but there's nothing wrong with reapplying next year armed with the knowledge of what to expect. Either way you'll make great nurses I am sure. Totally worth the wait, difficult as it may be.

University of Washington's BSN program 2014
OK y'all... I got mine today as well when I checked the mail after work. I wasn't going to open it but once I felt how thick it was I started shaking (instantly HR 120bpm) and knew I was accepted. I read the letter super slow and almost passed out in my car, no I didn't even make it inside the house. OH MY GOSH!!!!!! I am freaking out, so excited. I look forward to meeting everyone and I want you Just_keep_swimming to be there!! 10 isn't a large number and with all the other acceptance letters being sent out it's perfectly feasible that people will be going elsewhere.

Nerves!! I have 3 finals next week... I think I will leave that letter alone until after the 3rd one is over. I can not handle more stress, if I find a "No Thank You" in the mailbox I will probably fail a final.

Not speaking for UW but no one so far has taken CNA for CPR. You have to re-certify in "CPR for healthcare providers" every 2 years regardless of your licensure (is that a word?).

I feel WAY better this year, but that's mainly because last year was sooo bad. They probably have that essay hanging on the wall with "LOL" written all over it. haha I paid special attention to what would be difficult for me (I answered the A&B parts on the 1st page and the entire 2nd page was for the C part) in the scenario and wrote how being put in that position would help me toward being a better future nurse... Is it what they are looking for?? I have no idea. I can only hope. If not, it's ok, after talking with people throughout the year I have learned how difficult it is to even get invited to sit for the essay - No one else, of all the people I have talked to (that applied), has been asked to even do the essay, they just got "thank you, but no thank you emails". So that's awesome for me. This paragraph is to the universe and karma and fate and whatever else I'm missing.... I would love more than anything to be accepted to this school!!!! I absolutely want a BSN from UW hanging on my wall somewhere, I want the UW Seattle "Alumni" bumper sticker one day hahaha and darn it, I look good in purple scrubs.

I also used young idealist's ideas for this essay. I thought the questions were better this year as well, maybe that's because I was expecting the worst haha. All we can do now is wait right? I didn't have any cross outs in the essay but because I tried to make that last math problem into some sort of physics riddle I had a lot of cross outs there.. and a "duh" next to the area I wrote in when I realized it was a simple matter of division
