Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.
With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?
Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.
Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)
Did you get all the required books from list? I was kinda confused
I bought everything (both required & recommended). I had 4 of the items on the list from taking Pharmacology, so I didn't need to get those. There are 2 items that haven't arrived yet (the RF Clicker card and one more text). They should get here next week.
I searched by ISBN number to find the books on Amazon. Here's the list:

The only required item I couldn't buy online was the NURS 150 Supplemental Packet that we have to buy from Hole-in-the-Hall in the Gannon Building.
I think you have to have 15 posts before you can send a PM. Yeah, I finished all the co-reqs as well, so all I have left are the nursing courses. I'm taking Medical Terminology over the summer so I can comp out of it in the FallCan't wait to find out when our next orientation session is!
That's great! I am so glad I took Medical Terminology. One less thing to do/worry about fall semester. :) I took the class online - great format!
Hi all! I am hoping to be part of the class of 2015! I won't find out if I have been accepted to my local ADN program until late June or early July. It's going to be nerve racking over the next several weeks, I am trying to remain positive but I have my moments! If I get accepted then I would have a pre-nursing and dosage calculations class start mid October and then officially start nursing school January 2014. My program goes from Jan. to Dec. so if all goes well then I would finish the ADN program in Dec. of 2015.Good luck to all!!
Good luck getting in djaltic!!
I start my ADN program in August...very excited!!! This summer is going to seem soooo long! We already had our orientation at the end of April, and I've got all my immunizations, physical, and background checks done and ready to submit already.
My program is set up where I can sit for the NCLEX-PN after the first year if I want to...haven't decided whether I will or not. I like the fact that I could work as an LPN next year and get some experience as a nurse, but I need to work during school because of bills and rent, and I'm not too sure if I can find an LPN job that would work around school. Currently I am working fulltime NOCs as a CNA and I love it! I'm planning on continuing working fulltime during at least my first year as I can't afford to cut back on hours.
Good luck everyone!! YAY for class of 2015!!!
