Class of 2015

Published

Congrats to all those that are accepted and will be the class of 2015. I thought it would be nice to have our own thread where we can support each other along our journey. Mine is an ADN program, but I know some will be BSN as well.

With all that aside has anyone had their nursing orientation yet? How was it? What are some of the costs you have to dish out? Did it finally sink in that you will be starting nursing school soon?

Mine isn't until May 29th 9a-3p. I do know that our tops will be white and our bottoms will be green. I also know we are required to have an iPad which is included in our financial aid. I also know I have to pay $66.00 just for the drug test. The program pays for our in state CORI/SORI but I had to pay for my out of state one which was $31.00. I just payed for that today. We will be required to buy the books, stethoscope, name pin, uniforms, warm up jacket, lab coat, and more. So exciting. We will also schedule our classes on orientation day.

Lets get to know each other so we can support each other :)

Hi Meggin J! I think we will be in the same class! I start at OSU Okmulgee in the fall ADN Program also. I feel like this is a stupid question but where are you getting your physical and immunizations/ titers done? I have been to my doctors office and the health clinic. Neither do titters or physicals. I wish our orientation was sooner!

Hello Jenjer003! It's awesome to see their is someone else in class with me on here! I'm not sure about my physical yet, I was going to call the health dept. in okemah to see if they did them or not, then ask a local physician if she will do it. I'll let you know on that! And I'm not sure on the titers because I already had those immunizations. But I know the okmulgee Health Dept. does the TB screening for $10.

I'm 35. How old are y'all?

I'm 43 and this is a huge career change for me. I'm finally getting to pursue my dream and I'm loving every minute of it :D

Hey there! Are you attending LCC's nursing program???

Yes! Are you? If so, send me a PM :D

I am 51 and changing from a carpenter to a nurse. How big is your change? I was an EMT many years ago and loved it. Hoping nursing is even more rewarding. Although I do love making furniture!

Hi everyone! I'll be starting ADN on August 15th and I'm SO excited!! I already had orientation and I've done everything to get ready (immunizations, titers, physical, background check, FBI fingerprinting, drug test, already had CNA and CPR) All that already cost about $500. Our books are over $1000 at bookstore but around $700 if I purchase online. We will wear white tops and black bottoms. I got Timberland Renova shoes which feel pretty awesome and (I think) look better than Danskos & the like.

I have 3 children but they are all in school (ages 17, 13 and 6) so that helps a lot. I do not work and I have a VERY supportive husband who happens to have a fairly flexible job that allows him to work from home in emergency.

I got a Littman's stethoscope (purple:D) and we had to get pen lights, hemostats and bandage scissors. Our book list is pretty bulky up front but will last the whole 2 years.

ETA: I pretty certain I want to do Labor & delivery.

I have 5 kids, so I have to work and go to school. I know lots of students who worked part or full time. It's being able to manage your time to get studying in :)

Five kiddos?wow! you must be organized:-)

Hi everyone! I'll be starting the ADN program in August!! Can't wait!!! I'm in the process of getting immunizations, still waiting for my titer results. I can't believe how expensive these vaccines are:eek: we had our first orientation on May 2 and we'll have our second one in August. I still have to do the background check and physical. We have so many books to buy!! I was overwhelmed when I saw the list!! I'm going to order my scrubs this week:) they're royal blue and I can't believe I get to finally wear them!! :D I have 3 children ages 14, 11, 8 and a very supportive husband!!

I have been accepted into the ADN program. I will graduate in 2015. I am very excited!!! Orientation is not until the first week of September. My classes don't start until September. I didn't have to pay for my background check. I am in the process of getting my physical and immunizations in order. I also have to take a CPR class this summer..

Good Luck to everyone!!!!
