On facebook I have a habit of getting into discussions about the social aspects of politics. Im a conservative, I never use any racial epithets, never threaten violence and I use statistics to substantiate any claims I make. With that being said, conservative opinions are frowned upon today. With colleges and i'm assuming places of work being very liberal is there any way I could not be able to become a nurse because of me using my first amendment rights and expressing my beliefs?
Either don't be friends with co-workers on Facebook or don't engage in political discussions on Facebook. Those seem like the only win-win options in this situation.
Also, your right to free speech means the government cannot take away your right to spout off. Your right to free speech doesn't guarantee people won't have something to say you about it. Choose your battles. Is it really worth alienating friends, family members, or colleagues over politicians who don't give a rat's behind about you?
What everyone else said: Do not discuss politics at work.
The stuff you see in homecare!
Unfortunately, the home is my place of employment, and by instinct I know many of the families political beliefs, whether it is through seeing a political sign on the lawn,a Confederate flag,a Mexican flag,a black lives matter t shirt,a swatiska,or even certain cable news channels playing 24/7 in the living room.
The worst thing is the nurse does not have a choice. If daddy wants to make his political beliefs know by cursing at TV,well, there is nothing I ca do about it.
There are many civilians who don't appreciate their tax dollars being used to subsidize indiscriminate mass murder. But do you disagree with my advice to the OP? Have you ever worked in a military hospital? Is it not the ideal environment for a politically conservative healthcare worker with zero brain-to-mouth filter?
Former Navy. Mass murder, your opinion and I'll respect that. Military people are pretty straight forward and not PC. Just comes with the game.

As long as he curses at the TV and not at me, I am fine with it!

Hmmm ... OP seems to have done a runner. Not enough fireworks, perhaps?
