Published

When I saw that Torrence Memorial had closed their applications to their New Grad program starting in March 2011 I realized we needed a new grad 2011 thread! The 2010 thread was a great place to ask questions and get answers about upcoming new grad opportunities. So let's make this thread the same. :)

Any old new grads out there? How long have you been looking for a job?

Specializes in Telemetry.

Hey Mosaicism105, I am also think about working at an adult day care or homecare. I have been very dissappointed at the results I have been getting applying to new grad program. It is not enough to have a BA in biology and BSN in this economy, I am not even sure. What eles I can do to be more marketable in this economy. I think it is smart that you are taking this job the economy is terrible right now.

Aww, keep calling them!!

I took a job giving me 6 hours a day for 25 dollars per hour. RN watching over geriatric clients in an adult day care center. They want me to start on June 2. I just said yes.In this economic situation, it's not advisable to be picky.

And Fountain Valley called me and not be able to answer it. They did not left a message as well. And when I tried to call them I am always sent to leave a voicemail on the DON or HR...:crying2:

Hey kemsil, have you begun to look into homecare or are you just thinking about it? I ask because I've spoken to three homecare director and they all want at least 1 year experience since its independent nursing (as in you're out there by yourself). However, two of those three directors will take me as a new grad, but only as part-time and per diem. In addition, all i will be doing is the initial visit where you open the case. They said that due to homecare regulations they cannot hire someone without a 1 year experience full-time. Have you heard differently? I am just curious.. part-time and perdiem actually works out for me since i still want to work at a hospital/new grad position and then do this on the side. Message me if you're curious about homecare. Im actually finalizing the paperwork right now.

If anyone is interested, Kaiser has posted a new grad position for their Med/Surg/Tele department in Riverside. It states in the description that there may not be a new grad program but that they wanted to see how many people were interested in the program. Its a little wierd the way its worded but check it out if your curious or interested.

If anyone is interested, Scripps in San Diego opened their New Grad Application
