When I saw that Torrence Memorial had closed their applications to their New Grad program starting in March 2011 I realized we needed a new grad 2011 thread! The 2010 thread was a great place to ask questions and get answers about upcoming new grad opportunities. So let's make this thread the same. :)

Did anyone get a call from Fountain Valley Hospital? i just got a call to pick two units I want to work on. =D i know their application is still up.. so apply if you haven't =D. but the man from HR told me he will forward my application to the department manager and will be back with me within a week. yay!! its my first choice
Congrats telenurse22 on moving forward in the application process and getting it to the unit manager of your choice. I just applied yesterday so hopefully I might get a phone call as well.

No, I didn't get a call yet. I'm a little confused on the application process- on the online application it says to bring your resume w/ pic, 2 letters of rec, and the additional paragraph to the initial interview, but then says that interviews won't be granted without those documents. Did you upload those to the online application? Fountain Valley is my first choice too- I did my preceptorship there in the pediatric unit so I hope that helps! I have no idea what units are hiring for the new grad program though.
@ AZWildcatRN and @ RNwannabeLA: i hope you guys get the call too!!! I applied last Friday and got the call at around 4. I only uploaded my resume and a personal statement/ cover letter. i didn't upload the other stuff they wanted ( imma just bring it to the interview like it says). Also, i have no idea what units they're hiring. I was told to pick two units and i picked the two that I wanted the most. I said cardiac telemetry and med/surg. He asked me why cardiac telemetry but didn't ask why med-surg. Our conversation lasted about 5 mins. I want to work here sooo baddd... i live around the corner and can speak Vietnamese (which they need).

They called me yesterday too and have me picked 2 units. I said Tele and ER... FINGERS CROSSED!!!!! I'm really praying on this one... :) GOOD LUCK to everyone who applied...

Hey mmack27, I do have a BSN but i've gone on interviews before where the position was given to someone with more experience and/or with a MSN. So even with a BSN I am not confident because i know there are programs around this area that offers one of those entry level master RN degree..Good luck!
I received a phone call from Fountain Valley today to select my top 2 choices as well. I chose postpartum and labor and delivery. I really hope that the department managers really like me and want to interview me! I am so excited! I will continue to pray for a good outcome.

yay!!i hope you get it!! Fountain Valley has an amazing L&D/postpartum department. Almost all of my friends were born there. AZWildcatRN, does this mean you're into babies? I know loma linda medical center opened up a pediatric residency this past Monday. Did you apply to them? I'm not THAT into peds, but noticed that they have a cardic peds position so I applied. Just applied to them today. I've been so busy with a per diem job that i am finalizing that I was late applying to them and another hospital that just posted up a program.

Thanks. That just makes me even more excited about working there. Well not really into babies, more into women's health...I like caring for the moms more than the newborns but its still enjoyable. Yeah I applied to Loma Linda on Monday... now its just a waiting game. I applied back in January to Loma Linda but was rejected so maybe this time around will be different. Yeah its hard keeping track of when all these new grad programs post their positions, especially when the open period could last only a couple of days due to high volume of applicants. I just applied to a new grad program that opened up last week and I didnt even realize it until yesterday!... Good thing the application was still posted and not taken down.
I took a job giving me 6 hours a day for 25 dollars per hour. RN watching over geriatric clients in an adult day care center. They want me to start on June 2. I just said yes.In this economic situation, it's not advisable to be picky.
And Fountain Valley called me and not be able to answer it. They did not left a message as well. And when I tried to call them I am always sent to leave a voicemail on the DON or HR...
