  1. I always do head to toe assessments with my students and let them chart the assessments in EPIC. We are allowed to chart and will utilize the opportunity for learning.
  2. My ortho floor switched from 1:5 to 1:4 recently. Because work is heavy - physically. it takes time to bring a patient in a commode etc. With a lot of precautions and with the pca and iv pums with them. Pain management is also important. Skin integrity needs to be checked frequently. Etc.
  3. and most of them fall on POD 2 after foley removal because they think they are independent by that time.

  5. Time management I learned from a nursing home helped me a lot in the acute hospital.

As a male nurse I feel exhausted like female nurses I hold my pee for a long time like female nurses I eat late or sometimes eat while charting like female nurses I love my coffee just like some female nurses I get late with charting and med pass just like female nurses I got kicked,slapped and cursed by patients just like female nurses I get yelled at by MD's just like female nurses I clean poop and pee in bed or on the floor or phlegm on the wall like female nurses I do not know everything (you know something I do not know and vice versa) like female nurses I had a hard time at school just like what female nurses had I care for my patients like female nurses I am an advocate, a brother, a hero for patients like a female nurse (they are just called sister ) I feel SATISFIED after a 12 hour shift knowing that I am a Nurse and I made something different that day... just like female nurses.

  12. We have 1:4 ratio. Because they are also hooked with telemetry.
  13. Sometimes it's not what you know its WHO you know(referrals and sh**). Sad but true.
