  1. Hello all I am soon going to graduate nursing school (knock on wood), and I was looking into becoming an orthopedic nurse. I already know that you have to work for 2-3 years and get hours as well as take another exam to become an orthopedic nurse. I am wondering what it is really like? I do not have specific questions to ask right now, I would like to simply see what you all have to say about it!
  2. I recently spoke to a recruiter about joining the navy to be a nurse. She was saying that after I was to complete my boot camp and the exam and the graduate from the technical school that I would be able to join the reserve. She was told me that I would be able to work full time at a hospital I want to as a nurse, and also work part time in the nurse reserve. One weekend a month I would go to and check in, then 2 weeks a year I would choose a location to travel to. Everything she was telling me sounded really great and I really want to join! I am just worried that there is a lot more that she did not tell me that I would not like. Is all she told me true? I was planning on going to the boot camp an such next summer (right before senior year). Then senior year I would be in the reserve in Illinois. After I graduate I was going to go and live in Pennsylvania and work full time as a normal civilian at a hospital and also be part time with the navy. I would not move unless I wanted to. Do I ever get told where to live if I am just in the reserve? Sorry if this is confusing I do not really know how else to say this!
  3. I do have a few questions :) -what is considered a high GPA? Some people think a 2.8 is high while other think a 3.8 is. (I have a 3.87 currently) -Are you able to choose if you are on base, ship, ect? -what is it like on the job? Also thank you so much for the information it was very helpful!
  4. Thank you everyone for the information :) it was really helpful!
  5. Hello all so I just discovered that I can not be a traveling nurse right out of college...but I do believe I can be a Navy nurse. I will be graduating with my BSN in 2016. I am just starting to look into this position, so I need some advice! Would it be really hard for me to get into? I am good on my feet and a really fast hands on learner. I really am not too sure what questions to ask so if you can just spill all the information you know about being a Navy nurse that would be wonderful :)
  6. Hey everyone so for the past year I have been contemplating traveling as a nurse. I still have two years left of college so I may change my mind, but right now I want to be a traveling nurse. I do no feel like I would have a problem moving around all the time...but my boyfriend is not thrilled. He will have another year of schooling than me so I was planning on being a travel nurse in that time. Is it possible to only do it for a year? Also what are the downfalls of this job that are not so obvious? I only know of the positives.
  7. I am a Sophomore nursing student and I am most likely going to end up with a B or C in all of my classes. I am worried that it is going to hurt me in the future with the chances of being hired. Will my grades be very important?
