I'm in AB. The starting pay for new grads is 32.99 an hour. California starts new grads at approx 33 or 34 an hour, so yes, it is possible.

It depends on the area of the country. In my city, the union hospitals all have a starting rate around $30/hr- most a little more. Non-union hospitals, 5-10% lower.
wow! makes me think I need to go get my RN!

I graduated in May 2011 and started making $28.50/hr at the hospital. After orientation is finished they gave me $1 raise so I was a new grad making $29.50. I work in Connecticut.

Starting salary for a new grad RN at my hospital is $17.40/hr. Our cap is only $31.80. Of course, you can also buy a nice 2500sq ft home with all the trimmings for about $200,000, and when I bought gas tonight it was $3.23/gal!

Starting salary for hospitals in Boston is $29-30 for new grads. But it's nearly impossible to actually get a job with no experience.
