Did anybody else have a SUPER boring history teacher? He talks non stop for 1 hour and 10 mins :: he doesn't post powerpoints or have a school webpage so you have to audio record him. He rabbit trails. He was talking about what america is and then started telling us the history of pizza and tomatoes (?). This is going to be a long semester.
I wish I'd had a boring history teacher...would have saved me a LOT of stress!! Here's one of the three questions on our final exam (the fact that I remember this from literally half my lifetime ago should tell you something):
Given the social, economic, and political climate between 1875 and 1914, was Europe prepared for the Great War?
We were expected to fill AT LEAST one-and-a-half blue books with our answer. This was a 100 level history class: Europe and the Great War.
We had a couple of shortish papers (5-10 pgs), a 15+ page museum proposal for a WWI exhibit of our choice (mine was on propoganda), and then this final as the determination of our grade. With the exception of the novel "All Quiet on the Western Front," all of our reading material was primary sources. No history textbook -- those were only good for memorizing "factoids." When telling an upperclassman whose history class we were taking, the response would be either to cringe or say "Good luck." The word on campus was this woman had such high standards, she never gave A's. Nobody was ever up to snuff that way. I ended up with a B- in the class, and people who knew her were impressed with my prowess.
I'm not boring and that was rude. I've seen alot of unrelated threads in this category. I was just wondering how others peoples history classes were. I won't post on this category again. I've been nothing but nice and try to help answer everybody elses questions.
You can't call someone else boring and then cry when someone calls you boring. My ethics teacher was barely alive and my chemistry teacher talked about colonizing mars all the time. I can barely sit through an interesting class, though. I'd rather sit at the bus stop, and say, watch the cars drive by?
This is a troll - don't worry they go away when you don't feed them.Only boring people get bored.
I wasn't interested in my history classes and so they were tedious. I was VERY interested in some of my other classes, but the format caused my attention to drift more than I would like because I'm a visual learner.
Perhaps that is your disconnect too - the instructor obviously can't cater the entire lesson to your learning style, but explain your problem to them in a respectful way. If you show them you care about coming to class then they're far more likely to help you and possibly give examples in a different way than if you're a wallflower.

Lol, so saying someone is boring is rude...unless it's you who is saying it. Got it!
"Only boring people get bored" is a fairly common saying. It means you can make something of anything if you use your imagination, patience, or look for the good in a situation. Take something and make it more meaningful. Look for the relevance (and history has a lot of lessons to teach us about today; sadly more people don't use them). Enjoy the bits about pizza; it's actually kind of an interesting digression imo and is probably one less thing you'll have to study.
I had a boring professor for history back in the day. I thought I'd fall asleep each class. He was totally unclear about what we were supposed to learn and never covered any topic that was in the textbook or at all related to the course. He spoke in a slow monotone and never looked at anyone. We had two exams. each consisted of two essay questions about a random topic from the textbook. I was never so glad to be done with a class as I was with that one! I empathize with you!
We have 3 tests including final exam. Those are our only grades for the class.
