BCIT Nursing Sept 2021 Intake

Published

Hello!

Just wanted to start a new topic for the next intake for those applying in Feb 1 2021- March 15 2021 for the Sept 2021 intake at BCIT!

It seems as though majority of people feel like CASper is a shady operation as for the first time in North American history, schools are putting their screening process in the hands of a FOR-profit company.  Majority of admissions committees are held accountable to the university with regard to having an impartial and transparent screening process. However, what happens behind the scenes of a private company is not monitored. I’ve also read that the validity behind the CASper test has never been peer reviewed.

With that being said, I didn’t think it was too bad! I’m definitely skeptical since as prospective students we never receive our grades. How can we ever improve If we don’t know whether the CASper in particular lead to regrets on an application? I guess this is just another stepping stone we must overcome to achieve our goals...

Yeah, what also irks me is that casper raters are no experts. Anyone can be a casper rater and all they have to do is watch an instructional video and take a multiple choice test to become a rater. They don't even have to take the casper test themselves to see what it's like and experience the time pressure.

Hey all! Curious if anyone here would be down to offer feedback on each other's mandatory applicant questionnaires and maybe answers for the noncognitive questionnaire later on? I'm pretty new here but maybe we could do it over a group private message or something? I'd appreciate a second set of eyes on mine and would be happy to return the favor ?

Hi! I’ve been stalking this forum for a while but decided to finally make an account. Here are my credentials:

Pre-calc 12: A+
Chem 11: B

English: B

Anatomy and physiology: A

Psych: A

2 electives: A+/A+

I’ll be graduating with over 120 credits in April with a BSc and I’ve had almost 7 years of customer service experience with various jobs including being an assistant manager in retail, working as a pharmacy assistant for 2 years and have been working at a medical clinic. Also have been apart of some clubs and volunteered with the canadian red cross for 2 years! Pretty nervous about how competitive it is to get in.. also planning on applying for ubc nursing.

Hello!
Does anyone know what to do in the case where you get accepted to BCIT for Sept 2021 intake but also get accepted to UBC January 2022 intake?

Can you drop BCIT acceptance and go to UBC? Or can I transfer whatever credits I built at BCIT until January to UBC?

UBC doesn't have a January intake for nursing. They only have one intake a year in September and you cannot transfer nursing programs once you begun one.

I am going to apply to BCIT. *fingers crossed*

Does anyone know when the acceptance notifications? Is it weeks after March 15? ?

Does anyone know if acceptance is given out on a rolling basis or all apps reviewed after March 15?

Hmm good questions

I believe I read somewhere that you receive a response within four weeks of applying if you have met the general requirements. I feel like they will be doing it as people apply because they don't really have a lot of time between the application deadline and start date to have any delays.

My guess on how the schedule will go is by the middle of April to the beginning of may those who will be chosen to move forward will receive the request to do the non-cognitive quiz and conditional acceptances should come out throughout the month of June.

Regardless after 4 weeks of you applying you probably should hear back from them if you meet all general requirements.

Would this be four weeks after the March deadline?

Thanks!
