I am also applying to all those schools. What's your first choice?

I am planning on applying to bcit and langara never really looked into ubc tbh are you talking about ubc okanagan? I don't recall them having nursing program in vancouver although I could be wrong. My top choice is bcit then langara.

My first choice is BCIT as well. I am applying wherever I can, so I don’t have to wait another year if I don’t get into my preferred school. UBC Vancouver has a 20 months program. You have to have at least 48 credits to apply though.

Bcit is my first choice but I'll go wherever I get accepted first

Oh nice!

what grades and experience are you all applying to bcit with?

I have 73 credits, my first year was really bad so my overall GPA is around 3. I am still working on my pre-reqs. So far, I have:

A+ in A& P 1

A- in Psyc

General elective: A- in Physics, A- in Stat

I also have 5 years of working experience as a pharmacy assistant, and 6 months of food delivery services.

What about you?

Sounds like a strong profile!

Im applying with:

psych 1101 86%

chem 11 73%

engl 1177 78%

math0007 90%

CNST 1140 B+

Stat 1124 B+

Soci 1100 A-

just finishing up bio RN but will probably be getting an A in that

I did a health care assistant program but I am honestly not too sure if they count credits from a program but that on had maybe 35 credits and my GPA for the program was like 4.0 and the rest of the credits I have are from the pre reqs.

I have experience working with VCH and FHA as a care aide in both community and long term care for about 1.5 years and now started working with PHSA bccdc for contract tracing for covid. Also have  3 years of retail experience which helps a little with person interaction experience.

Hoping my experience helps as my grades are not the best of the best but I guess well see!

Thank you! You profile is really impressive. I am nervous about my overall GPA and hoping that my work experience will provide me a leg up as well. Is it your first time applying?

yes my first time!

Im super nervous though because I know a large majority of the people who do get accepted have like degrees or high amount of credits and I kind of don't have that so I'm afraid like someone more experienced than me could take my spot especially cus I don't have all A's but I'm just keeping my fingers crossed and hoping for the best!

The health care assistant program will definitely help! I finished the health foundations certificate at KPU and it definitely helped with my application as well as healthcare related experience. My grades were not the best and I still got in!

Do you mind sharing what you're schedule is like at bcit nursing? Do you have school twice a week and practical twice a week? Are you expected to do any overnight shifts?
