The health care assistant program will definitely help! I finished the health foundations certificate at KPU and it definitely helped with my application as well as healthcare related experience. My grades were not the best and I still got in!

Yay! this gives me more hope thank you!

Do you mind sharing what you're schedule is like at bcit nursing? Do you have school twice a week and practical twice a week? Are you expected to do any overnight shifts?

I actually got in for April 2021! Just found out at the end of October. Sorry I can't be much help! We do get our schedule on the 30th if you'd like to know what term 1 will be like.

Hi there, if you don’t mind me asking what grades did you apply with and did you have any work/volunteer experience that you feel played a large role in getting in?

Thanks.

Of course!

I applied with:

BHSC1200 75%

Psych1100 70%

Engl1177 70%

Phil1100 91%

Soci1100 90%

Math 11 75%

Chem 11 78%

I have 6 years of retail experience which really helped grow my interpersonal skills, as well as being a respite caregiver for 1 year, a live-in caregiver for 6 months, and currently a community support worker for the last 9 months. I also volunteered at a mental health and addictions centre. The caregiving and community support work as well as my health foundations certificate I believe really helped out my application as I was able to get some hands-on experience with bedside care, and the certificate is a requirement in order to apply for the nursing program at KPU!

Thank you so much for providing all that insight; I really appreciate your help.

Hi there, seeing as everyone else is posting their credits or what they are applying with I was wondering if I my application is good enough I suppose? :/

I am applying for Sept 2021 with:

BHSC1200 A-

PSYC 1100 A

ENGL B-

SOCI 1100 A

MATH 11 A+

CHEM 11 TBA

ANTH: B+

I have 6 years of various retail experience, 1 year of being a student assistant/ exam Proctor. I also volunteered at a Hospital setting- Residential care for 2 and half years, for events at my school, and at a thrift store (hospital auxiliary), and also reading with children at a elementary school for half a year.

Not sure of what my current GPA, just was told I am over 3.0 in the cGPA.

I have also completed the Health Foundations certificate at KPU, a certification which has helped me decide to pursue nursing.

You have a lot of work experience. It'll definitely help you. Do you mind me asking how many credits have you done?

Wow, thanks! I am just not sure how or if all that experience should be included on the mandatory questionnaire.?

Currently, I have 35 Post-Secondary credits. I have yet to start/complete the LIBS courses. I will be doing those is January.

How many credits do you have, if you don't mind me asking? :p

I am not sure how many pre-reqs credits I have. I forgot about my pre-reqs, LOL. I probably have almost the same. Considering the math, and science courses, etc needed. ?
