Hello!

Just wanted to start a new topic for the next intake for those applying in Feb 1 2021- March 15 2021 for the Sept 2021 intake at BCIT!

FYI - Assuming you don't get offered admission (I hope you get an offer!), being waitlisted for September 2021 does *not* guarantee you a spot for January 2022. They will just automatically transfer your application to the January 2022 pool of applicants to be considered with the next batch of people rather than making you reapply.

I was guaranteed a spot for January, if I didn’t get in off the waitlist for September. It may depend on your place on the waitlist.

“September 3, 2021 is the latest date you will be contacted for the September class.  If you are not offered a seat by that date you will automatically be placed into the class starting January 4, 2022. Given your position in the top 15, it is highly likely you will start in September.”

 

I would just check with admissions, to confirm.  
 

Congratulations to everyone who has made it this far, regardless of acceptance, waitlist or waiting for next semester.  We’ve all busted our guts to get to wherever here is ?

It depends whether you are top 15 or not as top 15 people received differently worded emails. For top 15, it says you will be automatically placed in the January class, while non top 15 says you will be reviewed for the January class. However, if you are top 15 and are still interested in a spot, you can email admissions to confirm.

OMG thanks for this!! I got an email at like 418 but was refreshing for hours after that cause I didn’t know this hahhaha waitlisted as well! I’m guessing the waitlist is up to at least 50? Or hopefully less?

Random question, but does anyone know approximately how many applicants BCIT received for this intake (or how many they usually receive)? Also, how many applicants do they accept? I'm curious about the acceptance rate because I heard that UBC's was about 120/860 (14%) for this cycle! ?

I believe someone said there was around 400 applications and they only accept 64

I heard from someone from the admissions office that it was more than 400. Close to 750??

I heard that it's usually ~800. Since the number of applicants for both UBC and BCIT increased by ~30% during the pandemic (read this in a news article) this means that BCIT received over 1000 applicants for this intake... And that works out to an acceptance rate of 6.4% which seems wayyy too low.

I don't think anyone has the answer ?

For people in the top 15 intake. I emailed BCIT and this is their response.

I wonder what happens to the ppl who are not top 15... hoping that once the top 15 get into the September semester and then next top 15 will get spots in Jan?
