Hello!
Just wanted to start a new topic for the next intake for those applying in Feb 1 2021- March 15 2021 for the Sept 2021 intake at BCIT!
They said they will call us if we get a spot, and the latest date for someone to withdraw is Sept 03. If we don't get into the September intake they will "review" our applications for January. So no direct answer on that, but I'm assuming that you would have a high chance of getting in January

I thought it's guaranteed spot in January.

I received a letter that I am top 15 on the waitlist and
"September 3, 2021 is the latest date you will be contacted for the September class. If you are not offered a seat by that date you will automatically be placed into the class starting January 4, 2022. Given your position in the top 15, it is highly likely you will start in September".
So it sounds like placement to the January class is guaranteed if no spot for September becomes available but maybe other people received a different email?
I will be declining the offer anyways and good luck to anyone on the waitlist!
I think if you haven't received any letter today, it means you will get a rejection as it said the September class is now full.
I think BCIT heavily prefers people who allready have a bachelors degree.
This is the email I received.
"The September 2021 class is now full. You were not selected for the class, however you have been placed on the waitlist.
If a seat becomes available you will be contacted by phone and offered acceptance to start in September. Acceptance off the waitlist is dependent on a student withdrawing, and therefore it is not possible to predict if and when this will occur. September 3, 2021 is the latest date an applicant can be called off the waitlist to start in the fall. After that date the waitlist will be closed.
If you are not accepted off the waitlist into the September class, your application will be reviewed for the January 2022 intake. You do not need to reapply or resubmit any documentation or entrance requirements.
The program does not give out exact position numbers on the waitlist, or the demographics of the list. However, should your placement on the waitlist move into the top 15 you will be notified via email with further information to help you prepare."
So I'm guessing people who are in top 15 on the waitlist were sent different emails. Hope this helps.
For anyone on the wait list, this may help!
I saw in a previous forum for 2019 September intake regarding waitlisted people:
”
"As students withdraw their seats are filled immediately from the waitlist applicants. There have been 2 withdrawals and more areexpected once full tuition is due on July 5th.
Being in the top 15 of the waitlist gives you a good chance of starting in the fall, as the number of withdrawals from the program in recent terms has been 15 to 20 students.
Top of the Waitlist applicants, who are not offered a seat for the September class, will automatically be considered for the January 2020 class".
Hopefully they follow similar protocols for this year for sept 2021 and Jan 2022

OMG THANK YOU FOR POSTING THIS! Hadn’t heard anything, checked that email and turns out I’m in the top 15 wait list?
