BCIT January 2014 Applicants

Published

Hi guys,

I thought that now would be an appropriate time to start a new topic for the prospective BCIT nursing students for Jan 2014 (similar threads for previous intakes are also a great source of information).

Hopefully we can share tips, answer questions to the best of our ability, and communicate with each other about when status changes are released and whatnot. Now we can all play the waiting game together, haha! ;)

Hey, being waitlisted is still better than getting a non-offer! Look on the brightside, you've still got a chance. :)

There is definitely time to go to the gym and exercise. For us, Monday-Wednesday tend to be a little busier, but from Thursdays/Friday is less exhausting. Keep in mind, I'm not sure how the January schedule is like, but this is from my experience.

In terms of students being 'weeded out', there have been a few, but this is mainly due to personal reasons that they've dropped out, or because of concerns due to patient safety. Throughout the term, the most important things to keep in mind is patient safety and progress. The instructors want to know you are improving and being proactive in your own learning.

I'm waitlisted... :(

I didn't even know they KEPT a waitlist....so that's not so bad! Keep the faith!

I just wonder if any spots would open. I mean everyone worked so hard to get an offer, so why would anyone decline. :/

I was wait listed when I first applied in jan 2013 an had to reapply to August 2013 and was accepted. It's not so bad at least u know they see potential in ur application it's a good thing! If u don't get in this time around u most likely will get in the next intake! It's a long road but worth the wait!

Does anyone know how it works if you want to defer your acceptance? For example, if I got accepted for Jan 2014 intake but I want to defer it to Aug 2014 intake.

U would have to call them and ask. I heard something about bcit not doing deferrals ne more but I'm not 100% sure.

@lnguyen Everyone may have worked so hard to get an offer but that doesn't mean that this is their only school that they're applying to. I got accepted to BCIT but if my first choice school pulls through then I might be declining... who knows!

To reserve my seat in the program, how much am i supposed to pay just the commitment fee of $200? or the entire tuition? but i cant find exactly how much that tuition is going to be.

the total tuition is 3,211.44 and Im almost positive we have to pay that in full. I think they were just mentioning that if you were to pay and then not want to take the seat then you wouldn't get 200 back.

where did u get that exact figure from?
