  1. I would really recommend trying to get some volunteer experience. I know that UBC's application has a very large supplemental portion. As for BCIT if you get shortlisted you to complete a questionnaire where they ask you about your volunteer/life experience. It's just something that's really good to have for an application.
  2. Hi Aly! Thanks! I just pmed you! :)
  3. I called this morning and someone in admissions said that they are currently admitting at a 3.4 GPA. I was told that out of the 30 seats, they have offered all of 30. They can't guarantee that all of the people who were offered will accept a seat, but at this point in time all seats have been offered. I'd suspect that only 1-2 would reject their offer. They said that they don't expect to drop that much lower than a 3.4 for offers.
  4. Can't wait to meet all of you in January. It's only two months away... which means I need to find a place to live If anyone in this forum knows of anybody in the Burnaby area renting out a room or if anyone here needs a roommate pm me! I'm moving down from the Okanagan area and don't want to leave this to the last minute. Cheers!
  5. @matchalatte yes please!! It would be great to get that off of the table right away!
  6. When I was at UVic we had the option to opt out of health and dental coverage if we already had coverage through our own insurance, does anyone know if BCIT offers the same option?
  7. How/when do we register for classes?
  8. @lnguyen Everyone may have worked so hard to get an offer but that doesn't mean that this is their only school that they're applying to. I got accepted to BCIT but if my first choice school pulls through then I might be declining... who knows!
  9. Does anyone know when/how we get our immunization record form? Or is it mailed to us with the criminal record check package?-
  10. Also, does anyone know exactly what our cost for tuition is? I can't find somewhere that says the exact amount or is it just right in front of my face and I can't see it?
  11. I got an offer!! Wooooooooooo. Can't wait to meet all of you in January. @caroline1991 I am also applying for student loans. It says in the email that we were sent that you can do a fee deferral. So they will adjust your deadline until your loans come in, you just have to apply for the deferral and pay the $200 that you wouldn't get back anyways.
  12. I'm hoping that you're right about the alphabetical offers because then there's still a chance!! but my last name also starts with W and that would mean more waiting... boo!
  13. When I looked into it it said that once you have received your acceptance email you scroll to the bottom and there should be a link to the online housing application. I'm not sure how much housing they ahve but I think it said that it was about $560/month (for on campus).
  14. I'm doing transfer route as well. I'm transferring from UVic! They have a 9 point grade scale so my GPA at UVic was a 6.8 (Just below an A- average) and I have a bunch of volunteer work with the hospital and around Victoria (Special Olympics, Relay For Life, and others). I also took an online Statistics course over the summer from TRU and got an A in that, so it may have altered my GPA ever so slightly. :)
  15. I think everyone posting on this forum is short-listed right now. Just waiting around to hear something!! Is anyone in this forum applying to other schools? I'm also applying to the U of C January 2014 entry as well.
