BCIT January 2014 Applicants
Hey, there was a previous thread from a few years ago that contained a similar discussion. If you're interested, here's the link: https://allnurses.com/nursing-in-canada/bcit-aug-2010-a-455143-page2.html. I can't guarantee the accuracy of their comments though.

Done! Search "BCIT Nursing January 2014 Intake" on Facebook or PM me for the link. It's a group within BCIT so you'll just need to verify your mybcit email address. :)

Hey RoseElin, I think you should email our admissions officer right away. Explain your situation and she might be able to extend your tuition deadline for another week or so. If she does extend the tuition deadline, then that may give you enough time to apply for a tuition deferral. However, they'll only approve your tuition deferral if you have proof of a guaranteed means of payment (i.e., your student loan comes through). Otherwise, you may need to reapply for September. Best of luck.

UFV January 2014
Conditionally accepted! I received an email a couple of hours ago. I was also accepted into BCIT's nursing program though so I will be giving up my seat at UFV. Good luck to everyone!

UFV January 2014
I wasn't able to view my application on myUFV around the time I received the invite to the info session and interview. It seems like others on this thread have the same problem of their application disappearing as well. I did email UFV and they said they would look into it but they never got back to me... Judging from the email they sent out on Nov. 4th I assume that everyone will be notified via snail mail and not online.

Yep they do. I emailed the Student Health Plan Coordinator and she told me that there are four options to opt-out. What sucks is that the opt-out period is from January 6, 2014-February 6, 2014 so we can't really do anything now, with the tuition deadline being so soon... If you pay your tuition in full and then opt-out, they'll mail you a cheque. Do you want me to forward the info to you? If you want, you can PM me your email.

That's the basic fee for our courses--$3388.19 includes all other fees like Upass, health insurance, etc. Check out this document that someone posted before, it provides a breakdown. :) http://www.bcit.ca/files/pdf/admission/2013-14-degree-tuition.pdf

They do it for us and everyone gets a standard timetable. You can check your courses and timetable by going to "Registration" and then "Check your schedule" or "View individual course registration details." In the past however, students have been advised to not pay attention to the online schedule as some details will change; we'll be following the schedule given to us during the first week. I wonder when we'll be getting the textbook list?

Yup a woman at financial aid told me it's $176.75 too since the nursing term spills over into May. I'm so used to paying for 4 months at a time lol! If you went to elementary school here, your school forwarded all of your vaccination records to the local health authority, or your doctor may have them on file. I don't have my records either so I called my community health centre two days ago (https://www.vch.ca/find_services/find_services/?program_id=2651) and they mailed me a copy (I haven't received it yet). After you have your record, I THINK you're supposed to make an appointment with Student Health Services to review your form to see if you're missing anything. As an alternative, if this is too much work, it might be a good idea to phone Health Services and ask if you can just get an antibody test done.

Has anyone been able to successfully defer their tuition deadline? Given that processing a deferral takes 3-5 business days and our tuition is due Nov. 5-6th, I'm going to pay financial aid a visit tomorrow afternoon to see if they can speed mine up.

Hey, being waitlisted is still better than getting a non-offer! Look on the brightside, you've still got a chance. :)
