BCIT January 2014 Applicants

Published

Hi guys,

I thought that now would be an appropriate time to start a new topic for the prospective BCIT nursing students for Jan 2014 (similar threads for previous intakes are also a great source of information).

Hopefully we can share tips, answer questions to the best of our ability, and communicate with each other about when status changes are released and whatnot. Now we can all play the waiting game together, haha! ;)

Thanks! and that's a lot of money! haha

haha yup especially with a week notice!!

Has anyone been able to successfully defer their tuition deadline? Given that processing a deferral takes 3-5 business days and our tuition is due Nov. 5-6th, I'm going to pay financial aid a visit tomorrow afternoon to see if they can speed mine up.

tuition is $3,211.44 + upass fees (~$176.75) = so total tuition should be ~$3388.19

I talked to a representative from financial aid today and she told me that as long as you've submitted your online student loan application, mailed your declaration, and paid the commitment fee, then you should be fine. She also told me that you can call the office next week to check in on the status of your fee deferral application.

Thanks! Are upass fees not $140 though? BCIT : : U-Pass BC : : Overview Or do we have to pay for May 2014 too?

yeah thats what I thought it was to

Does anyone know how it works if you want to defer your acceptance? For example, if I got accepted for Jan 2014 intake but I want to defer it to Aug 2014 intake.

I emailed them a few weeks ago and the only way you can defer is with a doctors note or medical conditions...but then again they also said they don't keep a waitlist. So who knows but I guess it makes sense. You have a bunch of people applying for January JUST to see if they can get in the program itself only to defer to August and vice versa. I wanted to do defer as well so keep us posted. If not I'll fork over the dollars...

Oh, I'm not entirely sure actually. I just thought that May would be included as the last day of class is May 9.

I'm heading to BCIT tomorrow so I can ask.

For people already in the program: this might be a silly question but how much stuff do you need to bring to class/clinical? Are we expected to bring our textbooks with us? Are laptops necessary?

Also, what is student parking like at BCIT?

Monday night you conduct patient research which after the first 6 week course takes a minimum of three hours. You bring this research/ care plan and medication cards with you to clinical.. there is no point of having any of your text books at school ever!

Hey guys,

I just got back from BCIT and the upass fee includes the month of may and is $176.75 in total .
