  1. Monday night you conduct patient research which after the first 6 week course takes a minimum of three hours. You bring this research/ care plan and medication cards with you to clinical.. there is no point of having any of your text books at school ever!
  2. Mondays you will not be able to work at all. Wednesdays you may be in clinical until 6 30 pm.. you could work Friday/ Saturday/ Sunday to answer your question!
  3. I would not work. I don't have a job and I am constantly behind. This program is extremely intense. There is at least a midterm or paper a week, patient research, clinical is exhausting not to mention PBL presentations that you are giving the day after clinical. There are people in the program who work like ace mentioned.. I don't know if these individuals sleep. I average around 5 hours of homework a night after full days of school along with most of my weekends consisting of homework. Its worth it though.. I have learned so much and we have come so far as a class. Just my insight though you know your own stress levels/ time you need to sleep and it may be different from mine!
  4. For Level 1 its the closest one to you where you live.. then its random for the next 5 levels.
  5. The first 6 weeks is clinical assessment (a course) and if you don't pass that then you cant continue in level one clinical ( id say almost everyone passes maybe 3 didn't) . Assessment is a pass/ fail course. I would imagine there are still 96 seats because people will defer from january to august and even it out. I really like the program - you just have no time to do anything else. It is extremely BUSY. Also look into PBL ( Problem Based Learning) and see if it fits with your learning style as you will be doing it for two years.
  6. 96 but there will also be people that deferred. My class has around 90 I believe. You also have to pass the first 6 weeks to continue. I think we had over 700 applicants and they shortlisted 176 - it should say in your letter!
  7. oops some of you already opened it. Anyways let me know if you have any questions about the program :)
  8. Hi I am in level 1 .. congrats on being shortlisted! We didnt have a time limit on the questionnaire so open it if you want!
  9. When they recieve all of the documents and you have passed the primary screening they will send you an email to your BCIT email account stating " department review ready" or something like that. If you do not meet the minumum requirements they automatically throw out your application.
  10. I also took them both online. DO NOT take 7002 online. If you are strong - ish in English than 7001 online is fine. Good luck!
  11. I only bought nursing care plans because I was told from a previous student that it is extremely useful.
  12. Hi, I promised myself that when I was accepted I would help future applicants.. so feel free to ask me questions.. i would prefer if you wrote in the august 2013 forum though. Your resume should include your work and volunteer history, education, objective etc. If you have never made one... I guess I would go to your university' s help center. They usually have students there who assist you ( especially UBC). From what I understand the new entrance requirements state that you need to have over 65% in anatomy and phys. so if you have that I wouldnt bother re taking it. Bumblebee, in the past they asked for those letters if you were shortlisted.. they will tell you at the end of October.. its usually a cut from around 750 applicants to 176. However, for the intake that i was accepted into they sent me a questionnairre when I was shortlisted so none of these things were required. Hope this helps.
  13. Hi I took LIBS 7001 and 7002 before I applied. I applied with lots of volunteer experience ( seems like you have that covered!). I also had a degree and had taken anatomy and physiology. That being said I think you only need 60+? credits to be competitive. It is possible to get in your first time applying and if not ask how you can improve. Goodluck:)
  14. I handed in a two page résumé. I made sure that I included all jobs and volunteer work that were relevant to nursing. If its not relevant cut it out.
  15. Please remain hopeful! It is very hard to manually change 90 statuses in one afternoon. I really hope you get good news today.
