BCIT January 2014 Applicants

Published

Hi guys,

I thought that now would be an appropriate time to start a new topic for the prospective BCIT nursing students for Jan 2014 (similar threads for previous intakes are also a great source of information).

Hopefully we can share tips, answer questions to the best of our ability, and communicate with each other about when status changes are released and whatnot. Now we can all play the waiting game together, haha! ;)

If u can get records for ur dr perfect. Otherwise I can get boosters at Heath services at bcit ;)

Does anyone know when/how we get our immunization record form? Or is it mailed to us with the criminal record check package?-

Immunization record sheet is online. Check out the page that was sent when we got short listed. It has a link to the site. Then just go to the local interior health authority or family physician to obtain records and photocopy them off.

Can WE get boosters at BCiT???

got accepted this morning!!!!!! YAY

what if you dont know if you have ANY records? is there a test to see which immunizations youve had in the past?

you should be able to get a record form your local health unit. If you got them done in school or with your GP they should have it on file.

you can also get an antibody test

Still nothing :( congrats to everyone!!

To those who are currently in the program, what are your thoughts on having a job while in school? How long are you in lecture/clinical per day? What time does your day start/end? I currently work Mondays and Wednesdays from 4-7pm, and I'm wondering if that would be manageable?

Hi!

I am currently just finishing up level 1 in the program. I worked the first few weeks of school and I decided to quit just because I wanted my weekends to sleep and relax. Personally, I found that a shift or two a week is manageable, but it is personal preference. Hope that helps.

In the first few weeks, we had lectures on Mondays (8:30-3:30pm), Thursdays and Fridays. Some people did not have lectures on Fridays, so their Fridays were empty. Tuesday and Wednesdays were clinical days, so some weeks you would go to clinical on Tuesday, and some weeks you go on Wednesdays. The longest days are Mondays (with lecture and patient research) and the rest of the week is not too bad.

Later on in the semester (week 8 or so), you go to clinical Tuesdays AND Wednesdays for about 5 hours each day.

So I would wait till the semester starts to determine how you manage your workload. Hope it helps!

Can you put more more on haha. Is there time to do things like hit the gym or go for a run? How many people in your intake were weeded out?

I'm waitlisted... :(
