Hi guys,
I thought that now would be an appropriate time to start a new topic for the prospective BCIT nursing students for Jan 2014 (similar threads for previous intakes are also a great source of information).
Hopefully we can share tips, answer questions to the best of our ability, and communicate with each other about when status changes are released and whatnot. Now we can all play the waiting game together, haha!
Hey guys,I just got back from BCIT and the upass fee includes the month of may and is $176.75 in total .
So I called financial aid as I was filling out my tuition deferral form and they told me that for the upass it be $35 x 4 months = $140
Yup a woman at financial aid told me it's $176.75 too since the nursing term spills over into May. I'm so used to paying for 4 months at a time lol!
Have any of you filled out the immunization form yet? What if we don't have our records? Can we just go to the clinic to get a titer test?
If you went to elementary school here, your school forwarded all of your vaccination records to the local health authority, or your doctor may have them on file. I don't have my records either so I called my community health centre two days ago (https://www.vch.ca/find_services/find_services/?program_id=2651) and they mailed me a copy (I haven't received it yet).
After you have your record, I THINK you're supposed to make an appointment with Student Health Services to review your form to see if you're missing anything.
As an alternative, if this is too much work, it might be a good idea to phone Health Services and ask if you can just get an antibody test done.
For clinical we bring what is necessary: uniform (including proper shoes), stethoscope, watch, penlight, patient research and shrinkies (you'll see what this is later on), black pens.
For class, it depends on what it is, textbooks do not need to be brought to class (they are very heavy) unless they specify. I found that a laptop is not necessary (for class) because most classes involve discussion or have handouts supplied. Student parking is 4.50/day at BCIT.
Hey everyone!
Congratulations to those who got accepted! I got accepted too -- can't wait to meet everyone!
I'm just wondering for those who won't be using student loans, how did you (anyone really) pay for your tuition fees?
I logged onto my student account -> clicked on Student Self Service -> clicked on "Pay commitment fees/tuition deposits (Provisional and accepted applicants)" and then it asks me to "Enter Commitment Fee / First Term Tuition Amount: "
What did you type? the full $3388.19 (that includes the u-pass) or something else?
very confused here....
@caroline1991 - thanks for your reply! So I would first type in the "$3388.19" then click continue and fill in whatever information is required?
I just didn't want to type in the "wrong number" or click "continue" and not know if I am able to go back. It would have been nice to have the Reg Office tell us what we owe in our account balance and payment section >
@Caroline1991 - Thanks! I've payed online at BCIT before (mainly for my Medical Office Assistant and LIBS courses), so I'll know what to do. I was just confused with the whole commitment fee thing -- I've never seen that before =P
I just want to confirm, the total amount/fee would be $3,388.19 (3,211.44 + 176.75) correct? :)
