Sure- mandating that you wear 5 masks when you sleep in your own house would be too far.

Why do you ask?

Because this is a forum that is open to all sorts of questions, even the hypothetical type.

I think that is a good enough answer to your question, don't you think?

Is there a point when vaccine/mask mandates can go to far? Can mandates never go too far?

What do you think? Are they too far now where you live? There are no mask mandates in Alaska.

I'm pretty compliant. I guess denial of services that crosses into complete isolation for individuals. Maybe denial of essential services.

CNN reported that despite China's  high vaccine output, people there are saying they are going too far.

Do YOU think there is a too far point?

Sure.  I figured since you opened with this, you might share your opinion on the matter.

Right. And I did. What's yours?

My opinion is that when the mandates are in conflict with the consensus of evidence and expert opinion, it has gone to far.  I gave they hypothetical example of requiring multiple masks.  I used a hypothetical example, because I have not seen any actual examples.

A vaccine mandate that extends to people with a medical contraindication goes too far.

An employer mandating vaccines with exemptions for medical reasons is not going too far.

A mask mandate that has police breaking into people's homes is going too far.

A mask mandate for people entering inside businesses is not going too far.

Once it was put in place and letting people wear any mask no matter if it works or not and saying face shield for an airborne virus.

I can just hear the whining now about my answer.

No whining here. I 100% agree. What is the point of a mask mandate/face covering when the product used is pretty much useless. Putting a bandana over your face might make you look like a western movie cowboy but it doesn't do a lot to prevent viral spread.
