Seriously Burger King? Are you totally revamping your life killing menu?
That was intro to an ad I just heard on TV. I immediately muted the rest of it. There is nothing more irritating than seeing the killers of the health of Americans trying to capitalize on this crisis.

I wouldn't eat at Burger King if the food were all free. It's so disgusting tasting to me!

Well........Americans have a choice whether to eat it or not. No way they do not know it isn't "health food".
It irritates me that junk food chains have the ability to stay open and make money, but independent restaurants with no takeout do not.
This whole 'essential business' thing seems awfully arbitrarily anyways. Here in my stae they let the pot shops stay open. ?

Agree with you on this one. It’s like food, only different.

Thanks. My 1st undergrad degree was rhetorical criticism, aka analysis. Essentially speechwriting & public communication. So you can guess how I feel about trump...

If I am going to eat off any "life killing menu" I much prefer MickeyDs.

The restaurants where I live are open and doing takeout even though they didn't do it before per se.
You didn't know that pot shops were essential? Not only open but in Calif they are giving (as in free to them) pot, alcohol, and methadone to homeless people.

Evidence for this claim?
@Emergent, I saw that commercial for the first time yesterday and thought of you. I indulge in fast food from time to time, but Burger King is definitely not my guilty pleasure of choice! Revolting. My husband called me a snob for being grossed out by McDonald's offer to give free meals to health care workers.

In all fairness (even though I have never smoked anything a day in my life and realize it is often easily and overly prescribed), medical marijuana is very much a real therapeutic drug that many people need just as they would their BP medications, so it makes sense that it could fall under the essential category.

I doubt cannabis businesses are giving product away because they have licenses, pay taxes, and have a lot to lose if they violate the law. BUT have no proof of that. All I know is what is in the paper. I did find an article about this regarding San Francisco. I don't know enough to formulate an opinion on this.
QuoteThe city is attempting to mitigate the spread of the coronavirus by keeping addicts indoors. San Francisco has leased hotels to temporarily house people experiencing homelessness during the coronavirus pandemic.Residents with addiction can have substances such as alcohol or tobacco delivered to the hotels to prevent stay-at-home violations. The city is not spending taxpayer funds on the initiative. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the city is administering alcohol, tobacco, medical cannabis and other substances to a handful of people isolating in city-leased hotels. It’s part of an effort to keep addicts from venturing outside to get the drugs themselves in the midst of the pandemic while they cope with the loss or reduction of their core drugs. The hotel residents — many of whom are experiencing homelessness — are also receiving medications like methadone to treat heroin addictions. The medication is provided by nearby methadone clinics. The drugs and medication also came from private donations...... Jenna Lane, a spokesperson for the San Francisco Department of Public Health, is working to help both the public and addicted individuals during the pandemic. “They’re doing San Francisco a great service by staying inside,” Lane told reporters. “We’re saying, ‘We’re doing what we can to support you staying inside and not have to go out and get these things.’”...https://thehill.com/changing-america/resilience/smart-cities/496552-san-francisco-sending-alcohol-tobacco-medical
