Assisted Living - What EMAR software do YOU use???

Published

I am researching EMAR (and potentially EHR) for my assisted living facility but am having a hard time finding software tailored to our kind of environment. Please comment and let me know the name of the software suite you are using at your facility and give me your opinion on it's usability. Thank you!

Thanks for your reply! I've looked a little bit into Point Click Care, but several assisted living nurses I know have said that they've had trouble adapting it to the assisted living environment. I've only begun my research, so I will certainly look into it myself to see if it will mesh with our workflow.

Thanks again!

I work LTC, so my situation is a little different. We use Point, Click, Care. The software is very customizable, I'd directly contact point click care to see if their product would meet your facility's specific needs. Any interaction I've had with PCC has been positive.

We don't use this in long term care, just geriatric Acute Care & Geriatric Psych. for now - MediTech. It's pretty user friendly. Eventually I think they might possibly be switching our long term care floors over to this as well instead of paper records. No idea if and when they will as of right now.

AOD (answers on demand)

this software encompasses all aspects of facility management

the managers i know love it

all the medical staff i know dislike it (understatement)

most windows based software applications have a resemblance to

or behave similar to windows

AOD's interface (im talking about the EHR part) is completely foreign

the learning curve is very steep and time consuming

and while there is extensive support for the management and business

part of this software suit, there is very limited support for EHR part

the e-mar allows very limited overview and switching between

different views of the e-mar can cause another patient's record

to be displayed

Point click care user at LTC here. I haven't used other programs, so it is a biased opinion. I like our PCC, it is easy to navigate once you get used to it.

I loved Point Click Care in the LTC/SNF I worked at. There were so many unused functions though, only because we didn't get sufficient training on utilizing everything it has to offer.

AmeriHealthcare Tech......something lik that.

I worked as an RCA a little while back and we just got a program called AccuFlo or something. I hated it. It was slow, always messing up, deleting my work.... And we always had to wait ages for anything to get updated. I thought it was nice for passing meds as a med aid, but when I was on memory care and trying to chart personal care it was very frustrating. It was also a long process to find information on residents. You had to go into an individual category for every single thing; no summary page! That would have been lovely! I just didn't feel it was user friendly for anything more advanced than scanning meds.

We use a program called MedRight at my facility. Couple of cool things about MedRight:

1. Not web based, so if the internet goes down (which it does frequently) I can still pass my meds. When the internet is back up I sync my med pass and get any new orders from pharmacy.

2.Twenty-four hour 365 day support. I've had to call MedRight support at 1 in the morning on a Sunday. I obviously woke the person up but they helped me with my problem and were very nice. I dunno if I could be if I was in her shoes.

3. The interface is ridiculously user friendly. I have a couple of co-workers who have never owned a cell phone, but have learned to use MedRight in a month.

Anyway just my two cents. I've seen some other programs out there PCC, Almsa etc. Nothing comes close to MR in my opinion.

My old facility had just began using ehr and they use Point Click Care. I personally loved it, but I'm a new grad coming from the generation of ehr now and was used to it from clin8cals and the hospital I worked at for 3 years. The new job I'm starting in a couple days is starting ton use it. But I know it can be difficult to change. With good training, and if employees utilize all the possible functions, it is such a time saver. But I'm nervous about starting a job while they are switching to it NOW. They are in the middled of training. My old job really wanted us to use the dashboard to give report but none of the nurses did it. They were just so used to using a sheet of paper.
