Are there any travel nurse jobs for Unvaccinated Nurses?

Nurses COVID

I have two years of ICU experience, and the past 18 months of that have been in a COVID-ICU. I had a severe allergic reaction to my first dose of moderna (major swelling of my face and tongue with extreme difficulty breathing. I rode via ambulance to the ER while breathing through an NPA). None of my doctors recommend me getting the second dose/booster. As much as I would like to be fully vaccinated, after being hospitalized and almost getting intubated from the first dose, it’s simply not worth the risk for me. I am healthy, young, and already had Covid before my first dose. Despite all of this, my hospital denied my medical exemption and fired me two weeks ago. This whole situation stinks, but I’m moving forward so....

I would like to start travel nursing, but I’m not sure if there are positions available for unvaccinated nurses. Any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I am so sorry!  I also do not have shots and have been threatened with being fired.  I am trying to look into multiple options including leaving the profession.  Meanwhile I have also checked into travel nursing although I don't want to be back in a hospital and I don't want to leave my family while traveling so it is my last resort.  But I have talked to a few recruiters who say that there are positions available where you can work without a shot.  I know it feels lonely out there but I promise you there are others of us who sympathize with you!

Unvaccinated Baby Nurse needed in Malibu

Malibu Single dad needs a baby nurse who can work 24 hours 3.5 days a week Sunday at 8 am until Wednesday at 8 am. There is another baby nurse in the rotational shift. Baby is coming mid June sand we need to find someone soon. The perfect baby nurse is child led and not routine or schedule led. Dad will pay on the books. You will be living with him on his gorgeous compound in Malibu 3.5 days a week! amazing opportunity with a fantastic family! Please reach out !

It's not really clear from how this is written whether it an unvaccinated baby, or whether they specifically want an unvaccinated nurse.  Of course, if so, they could object to all the other vaccinations you have.  Truth be told, the way it is written, they might want want a nurse who is a baby, since they refer to the subject as a "child".  Hard to tell, and it's California.

Or this one.

You might be a good fit- they want "Applies in depth knowledge of clinical research and coordinates conduct of complex studies" Unlike you, most unvaccinated nurses don't really meet that metric. Although it is a bit suspicious that they want somebody who truly understand research, but they only require monthly testing.

Come to Texas. I know Tenet Health Care systems does not require vaccination.

Good news guys. Biden stated "there is no federal solution for covid-19" and the states are going to decide as to how to respond. That means that states that don't require vaccine mandates will continue to not require vaccine mandates and states that require mandates will continue.

The following is the the approach of each state to vaccine mandates.

A piecemeal approach to pandemic mitigation is hardly "good news".

I think it's reasonable to consider alternatives for those who have legitimate medical contraindications, but your hospital denied you a medical exemption because you don't have a valid medical exemption.  Even a severe reaction to the first dose does not predict a reaction to subsequent doses.

Interesting, from the CDC COVID-19 Possible Side Effects page:

Anyone who has had a severe allergic reaction after getting a mRNA COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), should not get another dose of either of the mRNA COVID-19 vaccines.  Anyone who has had a severe allergic reaction after receiving Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen (J&J/Janssen) COVID-19 vaccine, should not receive another dose of that vaccine.

The CDC recommends a different type of vaccine be given for the second dose if a patient had anaphylaxis with the first but doesn't consider subsequent vaccine doses to be contraindicated.

Current evidence though suggests there's no reason not to get the same vaccine for the second dose in those who had a reaction to the first dose.

My apologies. You are correct, I misread your post that I quoted.
