It's clear that the hosts of the view are poorly informed about what nurses do, and that they completely missed what was so great about Miss Colorado's monologue.

I've seen hundreds of comments from angry healthcare workers - both nurses and other professionals. Most have been appropriate.
But I've also read posts calling Michelle and her co-hosts "cows", ones that call her "butt ugly", and ones that even quip that her sex-reassignment surgery clearly had poor results.
Seriously? Shame on the ones that wrote those comments. They are doing NOTHING to promote nurses as professionals worthy of respect.
Please think before posting and commenting on sites like facebook and twitter (and here) with your feelings about what was said on The View. Your comments are a reflection on our profession and when posters sink to that level it only hurts the cause.
To Horseshoe: Don't know if you've ever watched The View, but the whole context of the show is usually mean-spirited and haughty comments by Joy Beher, Whoopie Goldberg, and (previously) Rosie O'Donnell. In addition, they seldom show ANY tolerance for anyone they disagree with. Unless you enjoy intentional hatefulness, The View is probably not the show for you.
No, I don't watch it. For some reason I just happened to catch the episode where Sheri Shepherd was exposing her astounding ignorance about the form of our planet, but that's about the only time I've watched it.
The stockbroker has a job. Nursing, while it is science based, is also an art and a passion for many of us. I watched the pagent just because I had seen something about Miss Colorado on the net.
I thought it took tremendous courage, for this very young nurse, to come out in scrubs and share her heartfelt story. Miss Colorado brought out the "mama nurse" in me and that it is why I was so angry. It is easy to sit on the View and criticize and belittle. I didn't like the crack they made about the violinist either. So no thanks to the valium prn, smarten up the View. They are successful women who should be mentoring other women not attacking them.
Miss Colorado handled herself perfectly on the Ellen Show today. She has become the face of Nursing in the U.S.
Also, Egglands Best withdrew their advertising from the View today.
Now the rest of us need to remember to comport ourselves the same way and show the same amount of class.
United we Stand.
I'm not trying to hold myself up as one who follows these words to the "T", but I want to add this quote I found on an illustration in an old, old book: (others may have heard it said in a slightly different order or way, but it is essentially the same, no matter)
There is so much bad in the best of us
And so much good in the worst of us
That it hardly behooves any of us
To talk about the rest of us.
