Are we better than the hosts of The View?

Nurses General Nursing

It's clear that the hosts of the view are poorly informed about what nurses do, and that they completely missed what was so great about Miss Colorado's monologue.

I've seen hundreds of comments from angry healthcare workers - both nurses and other professionals. Most have been appropriate.

But I've also read posts calling Michelle and her co-hosts "cows", ones that call her "butt ugly", and ones that even quip that her sex-reassignment surgery clearly had poor results.

Seriously? Shame on the ones that wrote those comments. They are doing NOTHING to promote nurses as professionals worthy of respect.

Please think before posting and commenting on sites like facebook and twitter (and here) with your feelings about what was said on The View. Your comments are a reflection on our profession and when posters sink to that level it only hurts the cause.

I'm not trying to hold myself up as one who follows these words to the "T", but I want to add this quote I found on an illustration in an old, old book: (others may have heard it said in a slightly different order or way, but it is essentially the same, no matter)

There is so much bad in the best of us

And so much good in the worst of us

That it hardly behooves any of us

To talk about the rest of us.

The time has come, The Walrus said, to talk of many things.

Of shoes and ships and sealing wax

Of cabbages and kings

And why the Sea is boiling hot, and whether pigs have wings!

That sounds like Dr. Seuss.

I was actually referring to NSIME. Is hers Carroll's as well?

Nope. I had to Google it-how did we manage in the olden days when we actually had to get up off our butts and go to the library to do research??

Miss Colorado was on Ellen today, speaking up for nurses. One of Ellen's sponsors gave her $10K for grad school. Her link is titled "More compliments from Miss Colorado."

Just look at the way the nurses on here have torn me to shreds, and it should answer your question.

Johnson & Johnson has "paused" their advertising on The View and Eggland's Best states they "will no longer be advertising on the show in question". Well done, Joy Behar :nurse:

I was quite disappointed in some of the comments I read online from nurses implying that they would not provide care for The View hosts. As a professional, I provide care for all kinds of people that I don't like, and do it with a smile on my face. Those comments make our profession look bad

Like the Commuter, I too do not watch television. I haven't had cable for years. The opinions of a talk show host are unimportant. I'm surprised that so many people care what they think.

Everyone has an opinion. Doesn't mean that opinion matters in the context of your personal or professional worth.

I'm more offended by Sherri Shepherd's association with the program considering how she abandoned her newborn. I can't say I've ever seen the show more than once or twice, accidentally ....so I'd be lying if I declared my intention to boycott.

I think that had a lot to do with legal wrangling during a divorce . . . I don't know all of the facts, so I'm not going to judge her.
