Per the request of janina08 I've started the April NCLEX takers support group. When do you take it? What are you using to study? Would anyone like to review any of the systems/meds that he/she feels weakest on? Let's keep each other in our prayers and good thoughts as we go through one of the biggest experiences of our lives. :)
Where did the time go?! I mean, not two weeks ago I was thinking that I still had time to study. And now...
wow!!
I'm taking Sunday off because I'm fasting, going to church, praying and watching Juno for the first time.
In a way, though, I feel guilty because I won't be studying. To be honest, though, I can't study anymore. I spent 90% of my day today going over the basics, infection control, lab values, etc. Tomorrow, I'll review renal, cardiac, endocrine, and respiratory one last time and that is that. It absolutely frightens me to say that I won't study on Sunday, but I HAVE to give God SOME time! I have missed church so many times studying for this stupid exam.
And I agree with the person who posted about it being more than just the actual exam. I need the money, I want to get out of the floor that I'm working in right now, I want to specialize in something else, and there are SOOO many opportunities once you have those two little letters after your name! I want to start doing something now, but I can't because I'm not licensed, yet. *sigh*
I believe with all my heart, though, that I will pass on Monday. :) I have no other choice, and though I haven't studied as much as I would have liked, I think I have SOME knowledge from every book I have read in the past few years, months, and weeks to know SOMETHING.
Anyway, good luck to rose143 on your NCLEX tomorrow!!
to rose 143,
god bless and good luck to you exam tomorrow!
to ianjel and or2ca,
i am praying for success, i have the positive feelings, you passed the test.
to mave,
it's time for you to close your books or notes and start to relax and prepare everything you'll need on monday. god bless and good luck to you as well.

gracias, riza. :) i'm trying, i'm really trying. i'm just looking over some of the stuff that we do first. for example, if a sengstaken-blakemore tube becomes dislodged, i don't want to forget that the first thing you do is to cut the darn tube! get that airway secured!
....and that's the way things are for me right now. :rotfl:
but, thank you, honey, and thank you so much for the luck! i'll be needing it.

GOOD LUCK Mave!!! I think you are ready:) Loosen up and everything will be OK:up:
GRAVIDA- the pregnant woman
GRAVIDITY- is number of pregnancy whether the fetus attained its viability or not, so if the fetus is aborted it is still included in GRAVIDA.- abortion is included here
PARITY- is the # of births past 20 weeks (dead or alive)-- abortion is not included here
example: Faye got pregnant on the 4th time, her 1st pregnancy was term, reached 40 weeks AOG.In her 2nd pregnancy, she gave birth to a pre-term baby 36 weeks AOG (born before 40 weeks) but she had a miscarriage/abortion in 3rd pregnancy in her 12 weeks AOG.
SO her GTPAL would be G (Gravidity)-4, T (Term)-1, P (Pre-term)-1, A (Abortion) L (Living)-2
congratulations!!! i'm rejoicing with you! i wish i can also feel that way one day too..btw, how are the med computations? are they reeally hard or just the basic? remember the computation that we saw on the nclex bulletin online, are the computations as hard as that? what's the difference between pediatric and adult dosage?
can you give me some tips on infection control?
thank you and congrats again!
thank you for all the conratulations guys. you guys are amazing:yeah:
the med computations, please do make sure to take ur time to read them carefully, pay attention to every detail it is asking you. pay very close attention to the units, if it is mcg or mg or kg or lb, and if it is asking you the time in minutes or hour. yes, some are like the one we saw on nclex bulletin board (but not all). if you know ur formula and practice the questions u'll do fine hun. me, i practiced most of my computations on saunders 3rd edition cd in basic care (it gave me computations one after hte other while i was doing practice questions). i posted some f ormuals here yesterday, know that and if you know what values to put where? and if you pay very careful attention to your units, u'll be fine. try not to rush urself in exam. take ur time, but make sure all units are matching and same.
take 10 minutes to solve the question if it takes 10 minutes. and i did some questions 3 times calculated them to make sure i was gettting same answer each time. (i said to myself, this is something i knwo for sur eif i get right or wrong and i know it, so i'm not going to get it wrong as i wasn't sure about the question i would get next) focus on question at hand and dont' look back at the questions u left nor at the questions that will be coming. just the question u are doing. good luck hun
Good luck Roseeee. Yayyyy! we are rooting and praying for you from here.
And to my april family,

And to the ones who are sitting for their exam: Mave, riza and teresa, miss my kids, please try to stay calm. U guys know more than u know. U all are in my prayers and thoughts. Yayyyy! I'm rooting and praying for u all with my pom pom here.
