I'm applying to MJC and Delta for Fall '10. Just wondering if anyone else out there is also applying? :)
Roxy922, I know exactly what you mean about the math requirement. It threw me for a loop also. What's really frustrating is I'd signed up to take the math in the summer and then 1 wk before Delta put out their new requirements I dropped it and decided to take it in Fall, cause I didn't think there was a rush and I wanted to enjoy my summer. Turns out to be a bad decision... but so frustrating. Have you tried to sign up for Inter Alg for this semester? I know it's hard cause school starts in a month, but you can try and get on a wait list.
Hi RNBound83,
Wow I can only imagine how frustrating it was finding out that you dropped the math class that was needed in order to apply. They should have notified us earlier. I would take it in the Fall, but Sac State requires you to take a diagnostic test & pass it before enrolling in the intermediate algebra math course. I can only hope that the Math 1 course I took at Sac State is equivalent or higher than Math82 at Delta, but chances are slim. Since you are taking math this Fall that means you'll be applying for Fall2011 right? Best of luck to you :).
Roxy, I don't understand why they waited til the last minute to post the requirement either. I didn't see anything about the change on the website so it was very unexpected. I'll take the intermediate alg this fall and will apply for Fall 2011. Pushes things back, but could be worse. Hopefully they'll accept the Math 1 course you took so you can apply. Good luck!
If you are planning to apply for Spring 2011 or Fall 2011, they will waive the Math 82 required to apply. I found this in their FAQ document on the website:
Math Requirements for the ADN Program:
Math 82 or higher is a prerequisite for admissions to the Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) program beginning with catalog year 2010-11 and thereafter, HOWEVER Math 82 or higher is waived as an admissions prerequisite for those applying to the ADN Program for Spring 2011 and Fall 2011.
General Information:
Math 82 or higher has been a San Joaquin Delta College graduation requirement since catalog year 09-10. Math 82 is not listed in the ADN degree requirements until catalog year 2010-11. ADN students who claim 2008-09 catalog rights, or prior to 2008-09 are not required to complete Math 82 in order to graduate from Delta with an Associate Degree in Nursing. Math 82 or higher remains a graduation requirement for ADN students who enter Spring 2011 and Fall 2011, depending upon a student's catalog rights.
Please note: Students are encouraged to take statistics (MATH 12) to fill the Math requirement as it is a prerequisite to CSU Stanislaus and most other BSN programs. Students are encouraged to take the CSU critical thinking requirement (COMST 5 OR ENG 1B OR ENG 1D OR PHILO 30) while at Delta in order to be ready to enter a BSN program.

Thanks for the info dpeterson! After reading this thread I felt so confident in applying & getting in because I have a total of 73.5 points, & most of you got in with high 60's low 70's. Then I looked at the FAQ sheet & said Math was a prereq UGH! I took a math course at Sac State Math 1- mathematical reasoning, but I don't think that's equivalent to Math 82 at Delta. I asked the nursing dept via email to make sure, but haven't received a respond yet. I'm planning to apply for Sac State's BSN program, but if I don't get in I guess I'll have to take a Math course equivalent to Math 82 cuz I have a better chance in getting accepted in Delta's program. This means not applying til Spring 2012! Omg that sounds sooooo long from now! I really hope everything will be worth it.
Best of luck to everyone & hope you're getting everything you need for nursing school! How exciting!
