  1. Congrats to all who got in! Just a few answers... You will receive all of your ATI books at school during the first few weeks, along with your skills kit. Also, I don't know if you got your shoe questions answered, but I know that they require full white shoes. However, I do have friends that have shoes that have light grey/blue on some of the shoe & have gotten away with it. I got all white nursing shoes that I love. The prep class that starts next week is good. I really enjoyed the student speakers and it does give you a head start on the reading. I was also able to meet many people ahead of time which I thought was a real bonus, plus it is worth 2 credits for hardly any work. :) Good luck to all of you and let me know if you have any questions. By the way, the first few weeks are pretty crazy. Hang in there and just remind yourself that you are in a nursing program!! Whoo-hoo!
  2. Good luck everyone!! Pretty soon you guys will be in the nursing program asking yourself "why did I want this so bad?". Just kidding (sort of).
  3. kristi80- The only ones that I know of that didn't get accepted are the ones that had problems with their paperwork. I know exactly how you feel. I felt the same way. Personally, I celebrated when I received that email and yet I still was unsure. In fact, I was doubtful even up to the first day of school. All I can say is that it is very positive! Not sure that helps you though. :)
  4. SBNRN2B - We received our "submit documents" email on April 21st and all of our documents were due by May 6th. I don't know if there is anyone to look it over for you, just make sure you have everything in place.
  5. harry123 - We got our "submit documents" email on April 21st and the "congratulations-conditional acceptance" email on June 18th. If I remember correctly, our final email was about a week later than expected.
  6. Harry123 - Maybe. There were people who submitted documents but for one reason or another were not accepted (something was wrong with their application). So, just make sure everything is filled out correctly and exactly how they want you to do it. :)
  7. harry123 - Not quite sure what you are asking, but I'll attempt to answer. Our application period was during the first week of April and we were notified on April 21st to submit documents. I'm not sure how they determine the wait list, but when you are invited to submit documents, they don't tell you your ranking #. We did have a few people during the first week of school that were accepted into the program that were notified that week. Hopefully that answered your question. :)
  8. sbnrn2b - I am at Kaiser. I really like it. It is a smaller hospital and it has been great for my first semester. I agree with dpeterson. I think everyone likes their hospital. I do have to say that I think the clinical instructor for Lodi is awesome too (although I like mine too). I haven't heard of any "bad" hospitals, they are all different. You will end up switching for every class, so you will get to experience many of them. Hope that helps!
  9. apoppyfield - That's great! You have to do what works best for you.
  10. apoppyfield - Nope, not me. I went to MJC. :)
  11. roxy922- Yea! How exciting for you! We have about 70 students in our class. So far so good! I really like the program. There are days when I feel like it is not nearly as hard as I imagined it would be and then there are days where I feel completely like a "fish out of water" and very intimidated. I really like all of the instructors and I truly feel as though everyone desires my success. In other words, we don't have anyone trying to be difficult and setting us up for failure. There are lots of tools for success and everyone is willing to help. Almost everyday I want to pinch myself because I still can't believe that I am in the program! Let me know if you have anymore questions...I remember, I had tons of questions!
  12. Chaigirl - Not sure about the foreign language. I would call the nursing office to find out directly.
  13. I agree with CaRNwnt2b. I studied from the ATI book and I also looked at every thread on allnurses regarding the TEAS exam. I also spent the extra $$ to get the practice exam's on the ATI website. Worth every penny in my opinion. The practice exams are exactly like the real exam if I remember correctly. Good luck!
  14. Still waiting on my uniform. I got a notification that it was backordered. I already bought my bundles. Would have been nice to know the ISBN #'s. I've spent a pretty penny on all my supplies/books already! I'm definitely not complaining though...very excited!
