I'm applying to MJC and Delta for Fall '10. Just wondering if anyone else out there is also applying? :)
I agree with CaRNwnt2b. I studied from the ATI book and I also looked at every thread on allnurses regarding the TEAS exam. I also spent the extra $$ to get the practice exam's on the ATI website. Worth every penny in my opinion. The practice exams are exactly like the real exam if I remember correctly. Good luck!
roxy922- Yea! How exciting for you!
We have about 70 students in our class. So far so good! I really like the program. There are days when I feel like it is not nearly as hard as I imagined it would be and then there are days where I feel completely like a "fish out of water" and very intimidated. I really like all of the instructors and I truly feel as though everyone desires my success. In other words, we don't have anyone trying to be difficult and setting us up for failure. There are lots of tools for success and everyone is willing to help. Almost everyday I want to pinch myself because I still can't believe that I am in the program! Let me know if you have anymore questions...I remember, I had tons of questions!
ok. just thought I'd check. I would have been in your class at Delta, but instead was notified by MJC (Columbia satellite) at the last minute, so I'm sitting out a semester. I can't wait to get started, but I'm glad I'll be at home. I think I'll be more relaxed and study better from home.
hello carnwnt2b and kpatterson4:
thanks for the info; they're very helpful. well, i am currently taking nursing synthesis( lvn-rn transition) at delta this semester, so i'm hoping to apply either mjc, where i took most of my pre-reqs, or delta college, which is 8 mins away from me. my last option would be unitek college in fremont, and it would take me 8 months to finish. now, if you guys were in my situation, would you go to unitek college for the lvn-rn brigde program? it's goin to cost me $39,000 btw.
I've gone to Unitek for the LVN program. It was quick and gave me what I wanted, but I didn't feel I gained much out of it, as in feeling like a nurse. The program I took was in Sacramento. I hear Fremont is more strict, but by strict, you may gain the experiences you want with their ADN program. Yet, I'm not so sure of they, because they did cut corners to save money.
Going to Unitek would be the quickest way to enter the RN program, and quickest to finish. You should go there if you feel you can pass the ATI with 90% or higher. (I think that is what they require for their program entrance.) Paying $39k will be worth it.
Going to SJDC would take about 3 semesters to complete, if you did the LVN bridge. I am considering this option, rather than Unitek, because I need the breaks in between semesters. There is no guarantee you'll be accepted into this program, and if you aren't the first time around, you'll be waiting another semester to get in, which means another semester waiting and wasting time.
So, apply to both/all and see where you can get it. If you get accepted to both Delta & Unitek, go for Delta. You'll gain great experience and it's less costly. If you don't get into Delta's prog., pay Unitek.
Best Wishes!! :)

Which hospital did you choose and are you happy there? Which hospitals have the bad rep and why? Thanks on advance for the inside info!

Hello nrs209
Know your study guide in and out! Make sure you are more than proficient on comma rules and very basic sentence structure. I think so many of those questions are asked that you start second guessing yourself. Science is basic, but do review basic earth science nothing two complex though. It not a hard test it just covers a lot of basic info. Last but of course not least, sit down and really time yourself with the math. I finished in time with about 4 min left to review the ones i wanted to go back to; however, I know several others who have taken the test and say they unfortunately run out of time and that will just kill your test score. Good Luck and where are you applying? Also, I found the online preview test with ATI helpful!
