Anyone applying to MJC or San Joaquin Delta College?

Published

I'm applying to MJC and Delta for Fall '10. Just wondering if anyone else out there is also applying? :)

I am wishing you much luck on the app with MJC...Will you be taking the teas now that Delta is taking the best of 3? I can't believe MJC is making us wait so long...Its like I have my whole semester planned already with kid schedules all figured out. And then If in the very off off chance I do get accepted to MJC I will then have to see how I can work out getting my kiddos to school while I'm in school! I just hope I have that challenge ahead of me! I guess I will figure that out when it comes.. Until then...happy waiting and who knows maybe we will meet for orientation at MJC! Have you heard anything about their LVN program? When they are taking apps?

CaRNwnt2b,

No, I have taken the teas once already and really want to get in at MJC.....just works out better for me. I know what you mean about figuring out how to get your kids to school. I can take mine to school on non-clinical days but I will have to figure out how to get them there on clinical days:uhoh3:. All of my family moved out of state so I'm not sure who is going to take them. Yes, we will both get in and meet at orientation:clown:. I actually applied to their LVN program that started in June of this year but I didn't make it in. They did it a little different this time around because it was part of the stimulus act so the entire program was free!! I so wanted to get in. We had to do a bunch of testing and submit pay stubs and stuff but they only took 30 people. They are not sure if they are even going to offer the LVN program anymore but if they do, I'm sure it will be a while before they take apps for that. Good Luck;)

Hi guys and girls! I just talked to someone at MJC and thought I would pass on the information. She said they were running a little behind but are hoping to have letters out by July 23rd. Also said that they had 715 qualified applicants. EEK. Good Luck to everyone!

Has anyone received their uniforms yet? I've emailed Dove but they said they're still waiting for pants to come in. Also, if you want to get the textbooks at a cheaper price than at the college, I have the ISBNs of the books in the two bundles. It's all cheaper on Amazon, and they have the free two day shipping for college students. Hope everyone is doing well.

Still waiting on my uniform. I got a notification that it was backordered.

I already bought my bundles. :( Would have been nice to know the ISBN #'s. I've spent a pretty penny on all my supplies/books already! I'm definitely not complaining though...very excited!

I have gotten a few of the recomended books from Borders, I have used the borders reward coupons and have saved from 33-40% on them. I was searching for the textbooks on Amazon but I don't have the isbn for the other items in the bundle. It would be great if you would share them! Thank you!!!

mebnurse2, I didn't know Border's had that service. I really should check it out next time though.

kpatterson4, I've only ordered the Craven set for now, waiting for the 1st to buy the rest, but OMG this book is huge!! I hope we don't have to carry it to school.

Yes, I received my uniforms a few days ago. So, you should be getting them soon. They were back ordered when I ordered them as well. The should send you an email letting you know that they have shipped, and then charging your credit card. As for the books, OH MY. Yeah, I couldn't find them much cheaper online. Once you add shipping for all the separate orders it just didn't seem worth it to me. But man. OUCH, I went on campus and bought them. THATS A LOT OF BOOKS! Suddenly reminded of how soon summer vacation will be over : (

CONGRATS to everyone who got accepted! I am planning to apply for Spring 2011. Does anyone know if intermediate algebra is a prereq to apply? I looked at the FAQS & it lists intermediate algebra as a pre-req, but the scoring sheet only considers English & Nutrition.

Roxy,

They DID add Algebra as a pre-req this semester. It's a bummer for those who weren't expecting it. Not sure about the scoring sheet thing though. When we applied they did not require Algebra, but I did just take it last semester in case though. I'm noticing a lot of schools are adding it as a pre req. It makes it easier for everyone in the long run I guess. I personally HATE math though. But whatever... Good luck with applying. I know it can be tedious! Let us know if you have any other questions along the way.

Thanks for the info dpeterson! After reading this thread I felt so confident in applying & getting in because I have a total of 73.5 points, & most of you got in with high 60's low 70's. Then I looked at the FAQ sheet & said Math was a prereq UGH! I took a math course at Sac State Math 1- mathematical reasoning, but I don't think that's equivalent to Math 82 at Delta. I asked the nursing dept via email to make sure, but haven't received a respond yet. I'm planning to apply for Sac State's BSN program, but if I don't get in I guess I'll have to take a Math course equivalent to Math 82 cuz I have a better chance in getting accepted in Delta's program. This means not applying til Spring 2012! Omg that sounds sooooo long from now! I really hope everything will be worth it.

Best of luck to everyone & hope you're getting everything you need for nursing school! How exciting!
