I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.
Thanks for your interest!
Hey Charlyn I was accepted to the part time generic over at the medical center campus..... It's mu h closer to my house. Wow I can't beleive you ended up having to lose all that money it's incredible that they do not at least send a standby notice or something. Well I'm glad at least you were able to get into the school of your choice. I wish you the best of luck!!
THANK YOU :typing
Ra-man13, just letting you know that you can find better pricing in amazon. I purchase everything there, they have a better pricing in stethescope, light pen, I even bought my shoes there (although it is a little big, but its fine) and white uniform. Also, I'm going to Homestead, I hope to see you there.
Try http://www.allheart.com/ for supplies... I saw light pens and nurse kits there...
Hello Generation,
It will cost more to buy the Fundamentals at the bookstore. But if you have the list of book, you can check it out online where you might a better pricing. I bought mine a Amazon.com, then again you can check ebay, or google it to see which vendor pop-up. I hope this help.
HEY charlyn15,The same thing happened to me as well. I was placed on a waiting list and was called in early July and asked if I was still interested in attending MDC. Fortunately I was accepted to the University of Miami and there is where I am going to for my Accelerated.
I remember back in 07 the UM school of nursing was placed on probation for a couple years for cheating. I never followed up on those Miami Herald news reports. I imagine the all powerful Shalala had to get that program turned around. It was shocking 2 years ago, last I heard every exam is video taped like they do in South America to prevent and capture unethical practices. That should not bother most hard working honest students.
I was just wondering if it's still a topic discussed by current/former students or is their np over that? Or perhaps the np is at its highest level now because of it?

About a year ago students with a 3.5 were accepted with no problem at all. I am so surprised with the whole budget cut and everything. I mean with the shortage of nurses now and everything this is just going to make things so much worse. I am also sad that so many students with wonderful GPAs will not be able to make it in because of the whole budget cut thing. Even if your GPA is not the best I do not think it really makes a difference anyway. Let me lnow how it goes for everyone!
