Any Miami Dade College students going for the acceler. or Generic option fall 2009?

well I call today, I was surprise when they transfer me to an advisor, she was really nice, I ask her if they had less applications this time and she told me like 200 less but she said that it appears like this time was going to be the same cut GPA. I got really disappointed but any way lets keep the faith. :crying2:

Well i got my rejection letter the last week of August and returned my rollover for spring August 27th for the transitional program full time/ part time. Let's see what happens !! Good luck to you all !

Hello.

How are you? Like you I am also waiting for word into the Spring 2010 Generic Program. I called sometime last week and an advisor told me that they have not made their selections as yet, she also said that letters of acceptance will be mailed out sometime in October or early November. I am hoping that I get accepted into the program since I am an International Student/ F1 and Florida residents have more of a priority over non-residents. Good Luck to you all.

Hello to you all!!

I have an updated answer on the applications for 2010 spring generic nursing program. I was told on Monday that they have not began going through applications as yet so they have no idea about the gpa cut off for the Spring. Also acceptance letters will be mailed out until the 1st or 2nd week of November. Let's see how that goes..

Is this your first time applying? I already went true this twice and got denied it drains your energy. I am waiting as calm as I can possibly be. But to be sincere with you my hopes are not that high this time around, I call last week and it seems the GPA cut off is around the same 3.8 number. Usually the one's not accepted will get the rejection letter on the last minute so the torture last longer the best way to know when they will start sending out the letter is to find out when the orientation will be, the letters are send usually 3 or 2 weeks prior to give you time to prepare for it. I don't know about you but I will be really sad if this time I get rejected again if we get accepted I will celebrate one whole week:clpty:

olofin- did they say it was a 3.8 or "around a 3.8"

around a 3.8 could mean 3.75 or so.

I hope you all make it. Times are very tough with the cut off GPA of 3.8. Its mainly due to how tough things are. When I got into the program more then a year ago, the cutoff GPA was only a 3.5. Big difference from a 3.8. It is very stressful to get into the program, and then the additional stress of finishing. If I can help anyone with anything to make the process easier, please let me know. I think GPA does not determine at all if you can make it through nursing school or not, but I suppose at some point that will change.

I also think that it would be nice if they accepted students based on their merits and not just GPA based like they do it. Best of luck to everyone and please keep us informed as to what the cut off gpa is.

Olofin this is my first time around applying to the nursing program at dade. I am just going to wait my time out because there is nothing much I can do at this point. I am an International Student so my resources are very limited as in the number of other schools I can apply to financial wise. It is quite misleading and very frustrating when someone calls in the same week or days apart and they all get informed other wise. Like you mentioned you called a few days ago and it seems like the cut off will be the same as is for the last batch. I called on Monday and a gentleman told me they have not reviewed any of the applications and they will not start doing soo until sometime in October and letters will not be mailed out until either the 1st or 2nd week of November. The reason the GPA has increased so drastic is that I heard that Baptist is pulling out of the contract with dade because they have alot of graduates already and no space available for them to work which means Baptist is losing out. Let's just all keep our fingers and entire body crossed on this go around. Good luck to all of us. I am going to make another call tomorrow (Friday) and post any information given.

I WAS SURPRISE WHEN THEY TRANSFER ME TO AN ADVISER SHE WAS VERY NICE AND SEEMS SINCERE SHE EVEN ASK ME WHAT WAS MY GPA, SHE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THEY HAD LIKE 200 APPLICATIONS LESS THAN LAST TIME. BUT I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEANT, LAST TIME WE WHERE CALLING EVERY DAY AND THEY WERE STILL TELLING US THAT THE APPLICATION WILL BE OUT AT THE END OF THE MONTH AND EVERY BODY THAT GOT ACCEPTED ALREADY HAD THE LETTERS AND THE ORIENTATION PAPERS WITH THEM. ALSO THEY ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO REVIEW ANY APPLICATION, IS SUPPOSED TO BE A COMPUTER BY GPA, THEY CONTRADICT THEM SELF. WE JUST HAVE TO WAIT FOR THE YELLOW ENVELOPE INSTEAD OF THE WHITE REGULAR ENVELOP I WILL JUST NOT DRIVE MY MAIL MAN CRAZY THIS TIME AROUND, IT WILL GET HERE WHEN IT GETS HERE.:trc:
