I am currently at Miami Dade College fulfilling prerequisites in order to apply for the Nursing program that starts fall 2009. I'd like to be in touch with other career changers who after getting a bachelor's in a non-nursing field decided to pursue the program at Miami Dade College.
Thanks for your interest!
Hey guys ! I came upon your posts after noticing that it was the second week of July and still no acceptance/rejection letter in the mail. I was thinking maybe there were people in the same boat and I realized I wasn't the only one . I'm an LPN and applied to the transitional program in January and to this day no reply
. So I called the office and I went and the lady in the front desk looked shocked, I also spoke to an advisor and told me to apply again for the rollover. I obviously didn't get in
but it would be nice to at least see a rejection letter. I was annoyed but now I'm ok, waiting to see if maybe, hopefully, God willing, I get into spring
.
I called today and managed to find out that I haven't received a letter yet because I'm on a standby list consisting of 20 people who almost made the cut, and they're waiting to see if any spots become available for these people. She also told me that there are quite a few people ahead of me, so I'm pretty sure I won't make it....but for those of you who still haven't heard yet (about the accelerated program only), this could be why.
I still say that's pretty crappy of them. They should have at least sent out some sort of notification of being on the standby list. This means that there are probably a couple of people out there who will get in and don't know it yet. What a scramble it'll be for them when they finally find out they're in, after giving up hope and moving on with their lives....with less than a month to go until classes start. Ack!
As for me, I suppose it's time to start packing...vive la Louisiane!
Hi everyone!! I just wanted to kno if there if there was anyone here that has applied for the Spring 2010 generic program? I just applied and im kind of scared because they told me in the medical campus that the lowest gpa for the fall term was a 3.8. My gpa as of now is a 3.6, im hoping that will be good enough.
I guess they're doing it with the transitional program too. Nothing in the mail either. It sucks. I even went in person applied again and the advisor put rollover for spring 2010 because I assume I didn't get in. It would be such a relief to actually get a rejection letter when i check my mail.
Two of my friends that have a BA told me that MDC only looked at there Math and Natural Science and AP etc.. Classes to calculate their GPA.. which was a 4.0 because of that...
But when i went there, I could have swore she told me ALL classes will be calculated..
I have a BA and an AA...
My friend says that if you dont have a degree, they will look at everything.. but if you have a degree only 15 classes. that i mention above..
one decided to go with the Accelerated and the other Generic.. both has BA in different fields
This si what i got from there site just now
Accelerated Option applicants must hold bachelors or higher degrees from an accredited, domestic institution and are exempt from the general education core courses, They must have 15 credits in any natural science/math courses, including complete course(s) in human anatomy and physiology. CPT reading scores of 78 or higher are required.
I have a B.A. from a previous school, and I'm currently in the generic option. They only counted my science prereqs at MDC and one math class from my previous Bachelors. No other classes from my previous degree were taken into account to calculate GPA. I simply received credit for having taken them.
