Any hospital hiring new grads? anywhere in the country?

Published

Does anyone know of any hospital that are currently hiring new grads without any experience? I graduated May '09, and it's so hard finding a job without experience. Thanks.

Job Details:

At this time, The Nebraska Medical Center does not have RN opportunities for New Grads. Please apply to this position and we will keep your application on file for future openings. Please continue to check The Nebraska Medical Center | Omaha, NE

for new positions and please apply if they interest you......

i guess that ship sailed .... c'est la vie

It's getting kinda tiring to keep getting that same message.. "we are considering other candidates who fit more closely to our needs" and so forth..

At least I managed to get a position as a substitute school nurse, but now that it's summer school, i don't have a job again. But at least i know that once August comes around, i'll have the substitute school gig again, along with flu shot clinics.

Anyone know of any hospitals hiring new grads in Virginia? I'm currently not living in Va but already got an apartment over in Chesapeake and getting a job would make the equation complete. Thanks.:nurse:

Dang! I thought they made that message just for me LOL :crying2:

Wow. This thread is scary.

Anybody know of places in North Carolina hiring new grads? I know it seems overkill but if I'm going to leave my kids daily for the next 2 years, I want to make DARN sure there is a job once I get done!! I can't leave NC due to a custody arrangement, but I can go anywhere in the state.

Then get a job now as a pc tech or cna or something... If you're looking for job assurance, work a year in a hospital as whatever they call their CNAs and get them to pay for your school in exchange for a contract. Think of it as a job solid.

Our local hospital in Mass just released all of the contracted students, told them they dont have to pay back their tuition, but they dont have any jobs for them. For next years class, they were told they can choose to pay for their own second year, or be prepared to pay out their "contracted" 2 years in one of the nursing homes owned by the hospital system. No such thing as a certain job anymore around here.

definitely wouldn't go to nursing school in mass right now then.... the hospitals around here (n. texas / s. oklahoma) still has jobs for their contracts - starting in the range of 20 - 22 per hour.

Hi there! I'm from DC and just moved to Virginia (rent is cheaper!) although I'm in the Arlington area. I just graduated in May and I understand your concern about being hired as a new grad. There are plenty of opportunities even though it can be daunting. Almost everyone in my class has been hired even though we were all concerned about it due to the talk of hiring freezes at certain hospitals and the few positions available for new grads. Either way... it just takes a ton of application submissions and faith that it'll come around! I wouldn't be too overly concerned!! You may also want to apply in surrounding areas.. I'll have to travel about 20 minutes to Maryland for my job but its worth it. If you have any questions feel free to ask me and I'd be happy to help :) Good luck!!:)

Dang, the news just doesn't really get any better. I have been having a very nice conversation with someone at the Northern Montana Hospital in Havre, but I decided I really can't relocate away from my Sig-O and home -- even though northern Montana is spectacularly beautiful.

You have just cheered me up, thank you! I'm willing to drive to surrounding areas if it means having a job, I'll most definitely keep in touch:nurse:.

You're welcome!! I know it can be daunting as I mentioned before. I recall sitting in front of my computer screen and seeing one particular hospital's job openings. This one in particular had several jobs available. However, next to each one in big fat red letters it said "EXPERIENCED NURSES ONLY. NO NEW GRADUATES". I honestly thought I'd be jobless after seeing that! :)

If you're relocating, I'd suggest you contact the nursing recruiter for each hospital you're looking at. Tell them that you're relocating, the date, and keep in touch. If you can't get a hold of any or if they redirect you to their website I'd suggest you making it clear that you're relocating (and the date you plan on moving) on your cover letter.

Best of luck to you!
