Any hospital hiring new grads? anywhere in the country?

Published

Does anyone know of any hospital that are currently hiring new grads without any experience? I graduated May '09, and it's so hard finding a job without experience. Thanks.

I am a new graduate, seeking for a job and NOONE wants to hire me. I am in FL: nothing. I am looking and applying everywhere online to go to NY and still nothing!!! I cannot believe what is happening. Any advice?

NY is dead. Have you looked around FL?

Willing to take new grads sounds like it's in the middle of nowhere, but hey a job is a job:

Keep em coming, it is crunch time! Graduating in May, and hoping to ifnd something! I don't care where, I am willing to relocate.

I'm from AZ and graduated in May '09 and i also can't get a job. =/ I know I need to network, but where do i start? Also, I have an associates. Do you think getting a BSN will help get a job as well? And one more question.. how can one go about in working in another state? I read that you can get a temporary license for that state until you can get the official one? How can I do this? Thanks.

Well, I just could not believe my ears today. I was driving home from my dismal phlebotomy internship and heard a story about how California has a 10,000 nurse shortage. I quickly went to Google, searched for hospitals in the area mentioned (Contra Costa County) and found no hospitals advertising for new grads, and after a relatively quick look through the nursing jobs at several (8) hospitals, found very few that did not explicitly say experience or advanced training/certification required. I'm going to try and find a way to talk to the reporter.

You might want to check out the story:

Regarding the post on NPR discussing nursing shortage in California:

I'm simply going to vomit if another reporter does a piece about a shortage without addressing the issues of thousands of unemployed new grad RNs. I posted a comment to the NPR site following the article (it is free to register and then comment). There are presently 9 comments to the story - of which 4 elude to or state the new grad issues. Perhaps if more new grads have time to share their situation (especially the "old" new grads) - maybe the reporter will have a legitimate story worth reporting on.

After reading the posts above by NPR I felt I had to reply. Although I too constantly hear about the so called nursing shortage there are a couple of places which do recognize the nursing "glut." Check out this report by cbs in the bay area.

Hopefully more will come to see this and something will be done for new grads to find starting positions...

I know I have been searching and am discouraged by the lack of opportunities available.

Hello everyone...I agree with everyone above me...it seems like everyone around me is constantly talking about the nursing shortage, but nobody ever addresses that nobody wants to take us new grads!! Its so frustrating. Especially when the people around you who know nothing about the nursing field say "I can't believe you havn't found a job yet, isn't there a shortage of nurses"!!! If I hear that one more time I think I will explode on someone...I am so frustrated in my situation right now...I graduated in March 2009...orig had a contract w/a local hospital..interviewed w/them in may and was offered a position...unfortunately i failed boards twice before finally getting my license in sept 2009...the whole time being led to think my position would still be waiting for me. Come to find out finally in december im told that its been given away and they have no new grads spots at the time...meanwhile all those months i didnt apply anywhere else!! I immediately began applying elsewhere....NO LUCK!!! Then that hospital sends me a letter last month (march 2010) saying they are releasing me from the contract and i dont have to pay them anything back! I DONY HAVE TO PAY THEM BACK??? They should be paying me back...not only did they drag me along...they jeopardized my chances of employment anywhere else...IDK what to do anymore...not being able to land a job anywhere is ruining almost every aspect of my life lately and its made me very depressed....Can anyone give me any advice...I live in the inland empire of CA but am willing to commute reasonably...if anyone knows of anything please help me!

Does anybody know if there is any hiring for new grad in New York state?

i live in upstate new york and one of the local hospitals scooped me up straight out of college! And they offer to pay for review classes for your boards ad tuition reimbursement.

Can you give me this hospital name? I live in Brooklyn NY. Since last November 2009 I couldn't find a job I start to think to apply for nursing homes. I am very desperate.
