Does anyone know of any hospital that are currently hiring new grads without any experience? I graduated May '09, and it's so hard finding a job without experience. Thanks.

I graduated May 09, passed boards first time in August, family emergency in October and no job. I need to find something soon or McDonalds looks like my only option. Anyone know of anything in Ohio or WV that is hiring newer grads?

Hi, David. Hope you are doing well:)

I am living in CA. I would like to know how a BS nurse work? How much different between BSN or a Lvn nurse's job? How long have you working there?

I am planning going to attend BS nursing at AHUS or West coast University. They take me about 39 months to get a degree. In your opinion, should I attend these private institution school? Do I get a job if I am a new grad of private school? Thank you for giving me an advice.

CAMC (Charleston Area Medical Center) is always hiring new grads in WV, Christina-09RN. If you aren't familiar, it's a 4 hospital organization (over 6,000 employees) in the Charleston area. New grads start at $19 an hour right now.

Difference between BSN and LVN is going to vary on where you work. I actually had more paperwork related desk jobs as an LVN, and as an RN in ICU I do complete total care (including butt cleaning) but I do make double what I did.

There is no job guarantee right now in California, and I can't predict if it will be better in 3 years. I would not recommend spending 50 to 100k on student loans, that would be a over a quarter of your income just to make the payments IF you can find a job. My hospital was one of the last ones to hire new grads, and even they have stopped and are talking layoffs.

Specializes in trauma, jail health.

Parkland Hospital in Dallas Tx is hiring new grads for the specialty residencies. Try this site http://www.parklandcareers.com/job_view.aspx?id=3280. Pay starts at 24.52 and Parkland is a Level 1 trauma center and is a fantastic teaching school. It is county though, just in case you trying to avoid them. I have worked for them the last couple of years and I worked in the SICU. I cant say enough about the experience you'd get. You see everything at this hospital and are extremely marketable after serving the 2 yr contract that goes along with the residencies.

Valley Health System in Las Vegas is hiring and is offering sign-on bonuses. It doesn't specify whether it is for experienced or not, but it's worth looking into if you are willing to relocate or live in the area.

Well, I recently went back to my college to talk to one of my specialty nursing profs b/c I'd applied to a job that was in her specialty area, and I wanted to get some tips just in case I was called in for an interview. After getting some good advice, she said I have to get to know some nurses. I need to get out there and talk to nurses, hiring managers, program directors, etc. Network.

Great. I hate sales, and selling myself is no different. I am not a natural schmoozer. However, I am signed up to go to some seminars and I'm going to go out there and network. Job-wise it can't hurt. And the seminars offer CEUs, which I need since I will have to renew my license later this year.

I got a brochure in the mail the other day for an RN refresher course. I may sign up. I start my phlebotomy internship next week. I'm still feeling hopeful though I have no reason to feel that way. Maybe it's because I am doing something -- even if all I do ends up not getting me a job, for now I feel hopeful. And maybe the fact that it's spring and the weather is fine doesn't hurt. And maybe next week I'll crash and be crying. Actually now that I think about it, I was crying just 3 days ago on Monday when I was rejected by an agency I really wanted to work for. Sigh. It's an emotional rollercoaster!

So, my advice is to join some professional societies in areas you think you are interested in. Also, join the local ANA chapter and find out what events are happening in your area and go to them. Get out there and make contacts. And don't forget to bring a stack of resumes. Have some business cards printed: you can get them done for S&H at Vista print.

Good luck to us all!
