  1. Just a heads up, some VA hospitals are going magnet and I have personally been told by the VA in Palo Alto, CA that they will no longer hire associate degree holders.
  2. Wow thats crazy I actually did my LPN schooling in Portland 2 years ago and at that time there was talk of CNA 2 but I didn't know how much they could actually do! Its insane considering my job won't allow CNA's to even touch the G-tube machine! I think this is a backwards step for Oregon because it doesn't create jobs it actually gets rid of them. Do you have your Washington license as well? I know a couple of friends who went ahead and got their WA licenses as well.
  3. I feel the same way, here in Reno there are plenty of LPN jobs. Its hard to find LPN's here because there actually are no LPN schools nearby so theres an advantage to people seeking LPN jobs...
  4. If you fell uncomfortable being put right in the clinical setting, go for it. I didn't start my first lpn job until 1 yr after graduation, but once I started working I got the hang of it..BTW how is the nurse outlook in Vegas, I heard Reno is doing better than Vegas..thats where I am.
  5. There are companies that do hire LPNs I did a research a few days ago, most of them are correctional and LTC. www.supplementalhealthcare.com they have about 19 postings http://www.milleniamedical.com/index.php there were only LPN correctional openings I would just look on good and type in lpn travel opportunites..Good Luck!
  6. Thank you for the replies! I don't plan on moving until next year, just wanted to get the gist of things. How are the LVN-RN programs there? Where I am at they have none! And the online schools are not excepted. Thank you all!
  7. Hi all, I was thinking of moving to Texas but I would like to know how is is finding jobs in the Austin/San Antionio area? I would have a year of experience being a LPN before I come, and I want to do a LVN-RN program there. Thanks for any answers!
  8. Does anyone know the cost of the Reno campus?
  9. Some schools do have accelerated MSN programs for people with Bachelors in other fields. I'm not aware of any LPN-MSN though.
  10. Yeah I just started on nights a couple weeks ago, its not as bad as I thought it was. We pretty much stay busy especially with patients who have trachs and other special treatments. The first night I only sat down for my break...Charting takes up a lot of time as well, which helps me stay up. depending on how many patients you have med passes can take a while. So it-just depends but now since I'm learning how to organize my time better its getting a lot easier..I eat in the middle of shift and just snack on carrots/grapes throughout the night...
  11. So my state, Nevada does not recognize this program. But if I completed the clinicals in CA and graduated from the program, and take my boards for CA. Would I be able to get a license in NV afterwards? I'm just worried that i won't be able to get a license in states that do not recognize the program..
  12. I'm getting paid 17.54 plus shift differentials for working night shift...not sure how that works but its just extra for working nights. I would probably ask if there are any shift differentials. hope this helps
  13. Hi, Renown hires LPN's..I know for a fact since I was just hired! Mostly in their skilled facility. Take a look at renown.org so see their current listings...no experience, starting pay is about 18 with benefits. Hope this helps!
  14. LPN, No experience, 17.54 + Shift Diff + Benefits. Night shift. Reno, nv
