Any hospital hiring new grads? anywhere in the country?

Published

Does anyone know of any hospital that are currently hiring new grads without any experience? I graduated May '09, and it's so hard finding a job without experience. Thanks.

Even though New Grads are having a hard time finding employement I still think nursing is doing better than other fields. My friend works in Finance and she has been laid off 3 times in the past 2 yrs:eek::eek::eek:. Keep your heads up new grads you will get a position:redbeathe(and other nurses who are looking for jobs:heartbeat)

Des Moines, Iowa. Yeah, I know, it's Iowa. But we have two new hospitals opening this fall in the suburbs and both of the major health systems are hiring new grads. I even heard of a new grad getting into OB.

Con: Lowest pay for RNs in the country. I'm not kidding. Plus snow. Lots of snow.

Pro: Very low cost of living, safe neighborhoods, great school and communities.

Yes they are hiring I was just offered a position for telemetry at the Iowa Methodist hospital in Des Moines..I will be moving there soon--after obtaining license by endorsment and completing pre-employment stuff (physical, drug test) I want to thank you for giving me a hint where to apply..I was in such despair since for the past 6 months I havent had luck to land a job in my home state..I come across your post and decide to apply to Iowa (I'm from Illinois) and one month later here I am on my way to work for a great hospital system in Des Moines.

Ps.Also guys check out Wisconsin,Luisiana as well as Indiana, these states are hiring!!!

...Tyler, TX.... I moved here from MN because there were absolutely no jobs! I love it here! let me know if you have any questions!

Oh baby, just wait till the summer. Summers here suck rocks. Tyler isn't as bad as west Texas though, at least you still have trees.

:) Glad to have you as a transplant, though.

This is a wonderful thread and I am really grateful for all the information. It seems like Texas is a hot spot for RN's.....is there a particular reason that there are more jobs there than elsewhere? I can live anywhere and am willing to relocate, just wondered what the down side was besides the heat and humidity? Anything I am missing?

Thanks a bunch and good luck to all!:yeah:

The hospital here starts R.N. out at 21.50 per hour (give or take a couple of dollars) + s.d. I am in Wichita Falls, Texas, about 2 hours away from DFW and OKC... in the middle.

The climate here - oh man, in the summer it is like it was built on the sun. We did have a white Christmas though, which would have been cool except for the fact that there are only 4 vehicles here that can double as snow plows, because the LAST snow was Valentine's Day, 2004. December 23, there was a 72 degree high in FTW - nice zoo.

Tyler is a smallish town - I'm from New Orleans originally. There is a lot of nice out door space if you like camping, you're only an hour or two away from Dallas and Shreveport. No beaches, of course - I miss the beach.

Thanks for your reply. This forum and all the nurses and soon to be nurses have been wonderful sharing information, especially now when things are getting tough. I will look into Texas and see what that brings!

Happy New Year!

In the event that you end up here at URHCS, the nurses are really really great - it's not a 'teaching hospital', but the nurses sure are willing to teach you everything they know.. at least all the ones I've run into.

Nicole, how do u like the city of Tyler? I'm curious because I am from the Midwest as well and am moving to Tyler in a few weeks for a job at Trinity Mother Frances as a nurse as well. Any advice you can give me about moving to this city? Thanks ;)

Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler, TX! I was hired as a new grad in oncology! I believe there are quite a few openings in the clinics or hospital. Alot of med/surg positions! Visit their website www.tmfhs.org! They offer new grads all types of incentives for relocated and are more than willing to teach you everything you need to know! I relocated to gain experience, I moved here from MN because there were absolutely no jobs! I love it here! let me know if you have any questions!
