  1. CAMC (Charleston Area Medical Center) is always hiring new grads in WV, Christina-09RN. If you aren't familiar, it's a 4 hospital organization (over 6,000 employees) in the Charleston area. New grads start at $19 an hour right now.
  2. I guess it depends on what part of the country you are in. Here in WV (Charleston area), new grad nurses are snapped up by local hospitals the day they get their temporary license. I graduated in December and had 3 different job offers before I actually graduated. This area isn't the best paying in the country, but not the worst either. I started at $19.00 an hour.
  3. I've been mostly a lurker here at AllNurses for the past 3 years while I've been in school. But I just took the NCLEX this morning and it was SO hard. I was surprised by how difficult it was. WAY harder than Saunders questions, and even harder than Kaplan questions. My board of nursing (West Virginia) still isn't showing results. I tried the trick and I get the good pop-up. Hope to know something soon. I'll come back and update so we can continue to test the reliability of this method. -Winterymix
  4. Hmm.. since the OP directly cited the number of chapters she had to read in the original post, I took the, "..we're outta the lady parts!" as referencing all the reading/learning about the lady parts and other female reproductive organs rather than her clinical clients or a specific part of them. As nurses, we are bombarded with "sensitivity training", which is important. But I think it sometimes causes us to be overly sensitive or draw a conclusion about a statement that really isn't there. I seriously doubt any competent reporter or even layperson could read the title and/or post which follows and be able to construct a credible argument that nursing students objectify their clients. Just my 2 pennies.. -Winterymix :)
  5. 80% OR Nurse 80% Critical Care for me. I think I'd like to start in Med/Surg for the experience, and work up to OR Nurse. -Winterymix
