It's getting kinda tiring to keep getting that same message.. "we are considering other candidates who fit more closely to our needs" and so forth.. At least I managed to get a position as a substitute school nurse, but now that it's summer school, i don't have a job again. But at least i know that once August comes around, i'll have the substitute school gig again, along with flu shot clinics.

Yup.. I can totally relate to everyone here. The last time I talked about not being able to get a job as a nurse, the people listening just looked at me and mentioned about the nurse shortage... I had to repeat myself like 4, 5 times just to get my point across to everyone since they just couldn't believe it. I know I need to stay positive and motivated.. but it can get frustrating. Especially after someone tells me about so-and-so who got hired from a hospital and that i should go call the hospital. I don't know if I'm always too late or what, but whenever i call, they'll say the same thing.. they're not hiring new grads right now.

Heh, I know what you mean greyRNtobe. I feel like i need to get my BSN, but I have loans right now to pay and I don't want to go into more debt by going to get my BSN. So I'm kinda stuck right now.

Oh I see.. I'm still living at home with my dad.. so since I'm not paying for my own home, I'll need to pay for another state licensure if I wanted to work somewhere else.. (unless I get my own place here first). Well thanks for clarifying elkpark. Merrywiddow46: I just have my Associates, so it looks like I wont make it there. And I was just looking up jobs on nurse.com, and I noticed there are a lot of openings in Maryland, so I was curious to see if they were hiring new grads.

Oh ok, well I already got my license in AZ, so I guess that will make it my primary state? @ MERRYWIDOW46 do you know what the current status is of hospitals hiring new graduates in Maryland? Thanks!

I know there are many discussions on compact states, but I just have one question. I live in Arizona and I am considering working in Maryland. Both as I understand are compact states. So my question is .. I can work in Maryland without having to do anything extra, like take a state test or anything? Thanks.

Prinsessa, I don't know what kind of volunteer work you are looking for, but you can try this site (volunteermatch.org) for around your area. I'm just volunteering now so at least i'm doing something. But yeah... it's almost the one year mark. I never thought i would still not have a job even now. >_

I feel that way too... most of my classmates got jobs, but not me. I wish i worked as a CNA or maybe even did this fellowship program where I sign a contract with another hospital. I didn't think it would be this hard to get a job. =/ Oh, and I also graduated in May 09 as well.

I'm a new grad from may 09. My emotions have been going up and down. I had a lot of interviews, but no one hired me. Sometimes I feel like there's a problem with me.. but i prepare for interviews like no other. I'm just going to keep praying and applying.

I'm from AZ and graduated in May '09 and i also can't get a job. =/ I know I need to network, but where do i start? Also, I have an associates. Do you think getting a BSN will help get a job as well? And one more question.. how can one go about in working in another state? I read that you can get a temporary license for that state until you can get the official one? How can I do this? Thanks.
