We were discussing the Disneryland measles outbreak at work, and I was appalled to find some of my co-workers refuse to vaccinate their kids. They (grudgingly) receive the vaccines they need to remain employed, but doubt their safety/necessity for their kids.
I must say, I am absolutley stunned. How can one be a nurse and deny science?
As a nurse, you should darn well know what the scientific method entails and what phrases such as "evidence based" and "peer reviewed" mean.
I have to say, I have lost most of my respect for the nurses and mistrust their judgement; after all, if they deny science, on what premise are they basing their practices?
Am I willing to risk the health and safety of my children for the "greater good?" Absolutely not.
Being this is your take on personal healthcare decision, I am not sure nursing is the best choice of occupations for you. Protection of the "greater good" is an important concept in nursing.
I just discovered today that Donald Trump is also a vaccine expert.Sent from my iPhone.
Ah Mr. Trump...! The expert of many things but the true master of none. At least he is filthy rich.
I notice that some people with money tend to act as if they were experts in topics, just because they think that the money make them smarter for some reason.
I was vaccinated as a child and my children were up until a couple years ago when I began researching the issue. I find it odd that so many nurses just go with what the CDC says and many actually haven't researched further. I decided that I don't want to have monkey or human cells, formaldehyde, and aluminum salts injected into myself or my children. If vaccines were made without cancerous agents, maybe I would feel better about it. I refuse to get the flu vaccine as well. Handwashing prevents the flu just fine. I think that it is all hype, and this year, it didn't even cover the strains going around.
There are many doctors and nurses that understand the risks related to vaccines.
Here is a journal that shows the flu isn't the deadly monster it's made out to be....Do Not Believe Everything You Read About Flu Deaths | Journal of Advanced Practice Nursing. Nursing Journals : American Society of Registered Nurses
I don't feel it's right to put others down because they don't believe in the same things as you. Many who question vaccines are highly educated people who have decided to look into something at a deeper level.
ProCon.org - Pros and Cons of Controversial Issues is a helpful site that shows arguments for both sides of the vaccine debate.

I wanted to respond to a few things here and ask some questions.
As far as "human and monkey cells", you are aware that some vaccines may be replicated in a human cell line (and could perhaps carry a small bit of genetic material) but they don't actually contain any "human cells" right? This is a myth created by poor understanding of science. Same is true for "monkey cells" myth.
Formaldehyde is a natural byproduct of the metabolic oxidation of methanol, found in most foods. The level of formaldehyde created naturally by our bodies is more than 50 fold higher than the amount in a vaccine. So if you want to avoid formaldehyde then you better stop eating most food.
Aluminum is, again, much higher in our diet than in an injection. So if you want to avoid that you will need to further your strict diet, avoid most tap water, and use cookware and utensils without aluminum.
Can you cite your source on hand washing being as effective at controlling flu as vaccines?
They look into something at a deeper level yet somehow all the evidence that exists from decades of scientific research appears them. Interesting.

When you make statements like the above (really, the formaldehyde thing again?!), it makes it seem unlikely that you have actually done your due diligence.
