Okay. Well. I really don't know what to say except: Are you serious?

Specializes in school nursing, ortho, trauma.

I would advise against getting into the world of adult film and entertainment. There are other ways of raising money for school and getting into that lifestyle opens you up for all of the demons that come with the territory (diseases, drugs, etc). The role of a nurse is to advocate for the good health and well being of their patients. And it is hypocritical to get wrapped up in a lifestyle that you will (hopefully) one day tell your patients to avoid. Also - a lot of states do thorough background searches. There are other ways of funding school. Look for scholarships. You can also try and find grants or even apply for a student loan.

Well I dont think I have ever seen this question before---but I guess technically if your consenting and over 18- it is legal...granted I dont know how much you could earn, I think you could find other ways to make money that you wouldnt maybe someday regret.

I always joke that I went into nursing for the part time hours; working nights and weekend for a decent hourly wage--I say it was either nursing or hooters and hooters wouldnt hire me!!

:redpinkhe You're better than that. Not that I am pushing my beliefs on you, but may I recommend praying about it and seeing what good things come your way. I also had tough financial times trying to get my RN but sometimes one evil thing opens doors for other bad things to come into your life... regardless of your long term intentions. Have you applied for FAFSA yet? You could try to get a position at a hospital, even as a transporter or something and a lot of times you can get tuition reimbursement. Please know that you deserve better than that. **HUG**

Specializes in thoracic, cardiology, ICU.

um i'd say be careful with it (obviously).... there are other ways to get the funds. I took out some loans and worked insane hours in retail management and hated every single god forsaken minute of it.... My nursing schools only really did a CORI, and employers did the same along with checking my references. so if you're 18 and good looking enough and can't think of anything else yea sure, you can still do nursing and no one would know...

although how crazy would it be to interview with a hiring manager and have him/her say "do i know you from somewhere?"

Specializes in Home Health.

UMMM NO! I am currently a MA and have been for 5 years. During those five years.. on and off.. I took classes for nursing school. Yes its hard but everything thats worth your time is usually hard to get. I made to much money for aid but not enough to take as many classes as I would like. So I just took aa many as I could afford. I also started looking for jobs at local hospitals in their affiliated offices because they offer tuition reimbursement. I finally found that job and I got accecpted into the LVN program with 2 classes left toward applying for my BSN. So now that I have a job that will pay for school I'm taking the LVN route....I will get a pay raise.... and then they will pay (fully) for my LVN to BSN. In the end I will have no loans to pay and I will be a RN with 6 years at the same company. You should try this route first. Its ok to start small.

Um...Have you ever seen Naughty Nurses?

yeah well that was me.

This is ineteresting. I'm in no way considering this (I'm happily married), but how much are you going to make doing these films? Is it really enough to compromise your morals/relationships?

If you do it, it will be out there forever. Especially with the internet. Even if your plan is to do it for a shortwhile, that does not mean that the clips and movies won't be shown even 20 years down the line.

There was a teacher outed as a former adult actress a couple of years ago. She had been teaching at a school for years and one of the dads at a PTA meeting recognized her. He told another person and the whole school knew within days.

Drugs run rampant in the adult entertainment industry and even if you do not do drugs, you can still be caught up in a bust. When I was in the Army, I used to make extra money bouncing at strip clubs. It is a whole different and somewhat demeaning world. You would not believe what I saw doing that kind of work.

Right now, it might look like an easy option, and one that might make sense to you. With the right amount of money, almost anything can be justified if someone is feeling stuck or broken enough.

I'm with the belief that if someone is uplifted or betters themself by taking a certain action, no matter how controversial, then they deserve the right to do what's best for them (given they don't harm others). Unfortunately, the adult entertainment industry doesn't have its reputation for nothing-anyone can look at the statistics and facts of the great numbers of women who were swayed by money, and anyone can look up those stories. Although this MAY be a stage of denial, you probably are well aware of what you are potentially stepping into.

Just make sure this fits with you and betters you in some way. This isn't like taking a job for money, this is a complete change that will affect you, even if nobody finds out. You need to be okay with this identity, as waht YOU THINK OF YOU is more important than what anyone else in the world thinks of you. The money thing I won't accept as a good enough reason for doing this-maybe for a poor third world woman who has no options-but no way here in the USA. I wish you the best with your decision, either way.

I guess I'm not all that surprised at the responses here. Most would not even consider interacting with the "adult industry". But all that said, I think this is not something you can come to a board of nurses and ask for advice on.

I used to dance when I was younger, and I don't regret it. It was a wild and crazy and fun time for me and I loved it. But, I had no moral issue with it going in, and never felt like I could not walk away if it became uncomfortable for me (and after a few years, I did finally move on, but without regrets). I wouldn't tell anyone to go out and be a stripper or an exotic dancer b/c I was one without issue. But I won't presume to tell you whats right for you in this either, because I'm not in your head, I don't know your values or how this will really affect you long term. I don't think I would do this lightly though. Nor would i put myself into a position where I could not change my mind at any time (i.e. don't financially strap yourself into a situation that you may or may not be comfortable with as time goes on)
