i dont kno if this goes in here but here it goes. am an M.A, and im trying to go to school so bad to be an RN. i have a job but money is so tight that i have turned into the adult filming for money. i havent done n thing yet, but really considering on doing it for a lil while just to pay old loans off and new ones as well. ( alot if happening with FASA). I'm scared that it might mess my chances in the long run in my nursing career. can someone help me.
Back in the dark ages of the early 80's, one of my undergrad program classmates worked her way through nursing school as an exotic dancer in a biker bar. She was a good student and probably would have been a good nurse. But, after graduation she quickly realized that nursing jobs paid less for a whole lot more work so she went back to 'show biz'.
Thing about that, back when I was bouncing, in some of the places that were real dives, I saw the women who had hung on way past the time when age and gravity had told them to stop. That young firm body does not last forever. There is no dignity in it when you get to that point.
Wow -Previous posters have made some very good points. However, I would like to add -
If the 'job' is ligit and therefore does all the usual payroll stuff - withholding, paying into SSN & IRS - it will be discovered by future employers. All healthcare organizations that care for any Federally funded patients have to meet Federal requirements for pretty deep background checks now. The only way that this might not be discovered is if you were working as an independent contractor. But even then, you have to report the source of income to the IRS. Bottom line - you won't be able to hide it.

Did that carry her into her 40's and 50's? I can't imagine it would go over well to see a swinging granny with all the details that go into aging...but if it's to a bunch of drunks, who knows?

I don't know much about strip clubs, but I have seen some older women who've had work done who look really good (although I have no idea what's going on underneath the clothes). If they are making good money dancing, they can probably afford to get the surgeries/botox needed to stay lookg good, assuming they stay away from drugs.
I notice quite a few remarks about comparing exotic dancing to having sex with strangers to make a video. While I see the two under the same umbrella of the entertainment industry, the two are VERY different. Unless an exotic dancer is also an escort, there's no sex. It's like comparing a Victoria's Secret model to a model in a Media magazine like Hustler, and one asking whether they should model or not. Well, yeah, both modelling, but two VERY different experiences.
I am passing no judgement on you. I have spoken to women who have dabbled in the video industry. It is VERY difficult to stay on the straight and narrow. It will be hard, but not impossible to stay clean. Of course, what some fail to mention is this can happen in ANY job sector. I worked at a restaurant for a few weeks, and the drug use was pretty much out in the open (spoken about, drugs done in the parking lot). This was at a major USA chain restaurant.
Anyway, it will be much easier to fall into that trap. I would be more worried about that than being discovered. I don't think people realize the amount of women in Media. There are thousands upon thousands of movies. Yeah, you may get recognized- that just might be your luck. But if you are careful, and can demand top dollar for your scene, you can fly below the radar, therefore keeping your risk of exposure minimal. Don't get me wrong, I am not encouraging you to do it- just giving you something else to think about.
Perhaps you should try cocktail waitressing or even dancing before going into the XXX movie industry. Depending on what city/state you work at, you can make great money- and only work 2 or 3 days a week.
Good luck in whatever you do.
I don't think there's anything wrong with being an "adult model" - but to me, nude/adult modeling and being in Media movies are two very different things.
Now, I will just say that I am not MORALLY opposed to either. I think that what everyone chooses to do is up to them, and good and bad are not black and white concepts. If no one gets hurt, I don't think an action is necessarily bad.
I have been in some nude artistic photographs, and I do not regret that. I think the human body is a beautiful thing that should be glorified. If you decide to be in adult films though, BE CAREFUL. My concern there is not moral, but rather for your health. Diseases are rampant these days.
If you really need to earn some money and think an "adult" way would be best for you, have you considered being in adult photos for a reputable website? There are many out there who take all different kinds of models and pay you for your photographs. I have two friends who model for tasteful nudes and they love it. And, there's no risk of disease!
Just something to think about.
i have to agree with many of the previous posters. if you're asking, you're obviously not sure if you should do it.
I've danced, just stopped about 3 years ago, and have now moved on to bartending. i danced for 3 years and one day was just "over it." i still loved the money so bartending was the next best thing. it was a decision I'm happy to have made! now don't get me wrong, i don't for one second regret dancing, but once i saw how much money i could make in a strip club NOT taking my clothes off, i made the switch!
i feel that just jumping right into Media because you want to make money is not a good enough reason. and if money is the only thing on your mind, Media is not the job for you.
i have to wonder why you wouldn't rather get a student loan and look into grants? now i don't care what anyone does with their life (as long as they're not causing harm to themselves or unto others) but if having sex with random people on camera is not an issue, then by all means go for it. but if you're just thinking about the quickest and easiest money, i would strongly suggest giving dancing or perhaps nude modeling a go. if it turns out to be something you will one day regret, well, atleast you didn't go the other route first!
i also have to mention, i work with 2 girls who are signed to vivid, and it was VERY hard for them to get where they are. it was also a long process, over a year. the point being, unless you DO get signed to a big company and make a name for yourself, most adult stars are only making about 500 bucks a scene. and that's it. i make that in 2 days bartending. just something to think about when adding the cost of your schooling, living expenses, etc. if you're going for the big money, you'd better be prepared to do quite a few movies.
i do wish you luck in whatever you decide. and hopefully you stay safe and take care of yourself!

I see your also in miami as myself. Working in miami now for 10 years. I have worked with women that double as escorts, models and Media. They seem to come to work and do fine. Not that i condone this but thats just my experience.
