ENP Network
ENP network is a waste of 90 dollars! I NEVER received a single response from any preceptor on their list!

RN-MSN program at Aspen University
I'm almost finished with the RN to MSN nurse educator route at Aspen. It will be 16 months total for me. They have recently changed their courses from 10 weeks to 8 weeks. So you can probably do it in 18 months or less depending on how many courses you take at a time. I hope that helps. I'm at [email protected] if you have any questions I can help with. Best wishes

Thanks Mary, I plan to start the FNP program with South University this fall. I'm finishing my MSN in nurse education very soon so some of my courses should transfer thus reducing my overall cost.

Hello Rod. Thanks for the informative post regarding SU. I'm currently in a MSN program with specialty in nursing education. I'm finishing it soon and considering SU for FNP. I see you're finishing soon. If I double up on the courses how long will the program be from start to finish? 12 months? 18 months? Some of my courses from my current MSN program will transfer according to the advisor I spoke with at SU. I'm just trying to get an idea of the overall length of the program. Thanks

RN-MSN program at Aspen University
I will be graduating from Aspen with my MSN in September. Feel free to contact me anytime with questions. So far my experience with Aspen has been good. The program has not been hard but it is time consuming. I'm single with no kids so I'm able to take a bigger course load than most. Contact me anytime [email protected]

Starting to suspect kick backs
I have been a nurse for over 22 years now. In the last few years or so I find myself having to attend more product and pharmaceutical in services than ever before. Also many more mandatory educational in services. It's always one product replaces another or a different educational company contracting with our hospital. I know this sounds like I'm being paranoid but it looks a little like kick backs could be involved. We even have to come on our off days because some of the in services are so long! The speakers at these in services will always explain why their product is better and why it is replacing the old one we were using. Then I see a posting almost weekly of a new mandatory something we have to do online or class we have to attend. This is always later replaced involving a different company. Never in all my years seen this. Barely have time to see the patient because of this. Also I'm back in school doing my masters. Looks like I'm going to have to go part time to have time for school and all these new mandatory play toys are educators are creating. Anybody else experiencing this??

RN-MSN program at Aspen University
You're welcome. 3 essays a week per course with one to two discussion post depending on the course. It's not too bad . I find most of my information online quickly for the essays. I just had to learn that APA format. If this old man can do it you can :) I was very anxious at first considering I've been out of school for over 20 years but it's a user friendly website. Also i have academic counselors calling me regularly to check up on me to see if everything is good.

RN-MSN program at Aspen University
It's really not as bad as it sounds. I started the program in June of this year. I have been out of school for over 20 years. It seemed over whelming at first but it's very doable. So far the program is going good for me. I'm currently taking 3 courses. I would recommend starting with one or two courses until you get the feel for the program . Their website is very user friendly . Which helps an old man like me I hope that helps . feel free to contact me anytime with questions [email protected]

Why do minorities have more respect for nurses?
I agree with you for the most part. I have worked in areas of Florida where people certainly come from money and nurses are considered servants. I have worked with white people that come from rich, poor , middle class and it's still the same demanding disrespectful treatment. Where I work now in MIami is almost all minorities. On occasion we get a white pt/family transfer from another hospital like Orlando or Palm Beach and they walk in the door complaining. The last white family I received from Orlando reported me for failure to set up their wifi and failure to make hotel arrangements for the family!

Why do minorities have more respect for nurses?
You are SO right Maggie! I have done missionary work in many Latin countries and it's simply amazing how respectful they are to nurses. They are also very grateful for every thing we do!
